Well I guess Vandy can forget about him now. I bet they end up with Malzahn. I hope so, I wanna see Chizik go down in flames when Malzahn and Newton are gone. And he will.

Impressive what he did with Temple I'll give him that. I dunno maybe someone can break down a little more of his background cause I have no clue where he coached before, I just know what he did with Temple. I think Edsall woulda been the best hire but that's J.M.O.

I'm starting to think Edsall is going to stay at UConn like Peterson seems to be going to stay at Boise. They are always mentioned when new jobs come open, but they never go anywhere.

don't think it is a bad hire, but it is not a big bang hire that you would think they should go after

I just don't want anyone coming after our coaches. OK, maybe ST, but other than that, I want the staff to stay intact, because I think we may be on to something here.

Peterson WANTS to stay at Boise State. Edsall, on the other hand, is mentioned quite a bit, but has never actually gotten an offer (that I am aware of).

pmc...trust me when i say this..

anyone was better then randy..he isnt that good at all

My wife is a Cane. As a result, I saw every painful snap of the Randy Shannon era. Believe me, I'm no fan of Randy when it comes to game plan, X's and O's, etc. In fact, while I love what I see from Bray, it's hard to argue that CDD's game plan (air raid!) is really any different than Randy's was with Jacory. With that said, Randy devoted his entire life to Miami, had Miami out of the headlines for the first time in years when it comes to off field incidents, was through the roof in terms of graduation rates, and won at Miami. The problem, of course, was that he didn't win enough.

So great, fire him. But know what you want -- and that's the problem with Miami right now. They are having an identity crisis. You've got a bunch of still relevant NFL legends/alumni who expect Miami to regain its swagger, which is probably unreasonable given Miami's facilities, the fact that it's a private school, and Luther Campbell presumably is not still lining the player's pockets. Conversely, you've got a Miami administration under Donna Sh. that is really only concerned about the graduation rates and modest winnings.

So, if you fire Shannon, because you want to regain the swagger, have you made a good step in that direction by hiring Al Golden? Does Al Golden bring a sense of swagger? Does he bring the recruiting buzz that will encourage the local talent to forgo playing at UF or for Jimbo Fisher? Does anything about his hiring scream big time? I just don't think so. Only time will tell.

He has learned under Paterno and was the recruiting coordinator during his time as Linebackers Coach at Penn St. I think this is a very good hire for the Miami program. I remember last year his name popped up for the Tennessee job. I think it was a possibility but Hamilton wanted someone with ties in the South. The bright spot is that you dont need Southern ties to recruit at Miami. Florida is a hotbed for talent. I think he will do good things there. BTW his Temple team did beat Randy Edsall's BCS bowl bound UCONN team this year.

Al Golden is a good coach. He will help keep talent out of Gainesville.

He's Just not a huge name.....you'd think Miami, along with Florida for that matter would have went for a big name hire.....though I give Miami credit, at least Golden has been a HC

Honestly I swear some of you on this board watched ZERO games the past 2 years. Special teams was the one HUGE improvement this staff accomplished in its 1st year. ST was 50x better than last season...not the staff's fault nobody could catch a freakin' punt. I think they even tried practice squad members trying to find someone to put back there. That's a personel problem NOT a coaching problem.
