Impressive what he did with Temple I'll give him that. I dunno maybe someone can break down a little more of his background cause I have no clue where he coached before, I just know what he did with Temple. I think Edsall woulda been the best hire but that's J.M.O.

He's Just not a huge name.....you'd think Miami, along with Florida for that matter would have went for a big name hire.....though I give Miami credit, at least Golden has been a HC

Miami seems to be the school coaches make their big names.

I was a little surprised, actually a lot surprised, that Temple went 8-4 and was not invited to a bowl. He has done an excellent job there.

Kinda off topic but I'll throw it out there....

I was at Best Buy today wearing a UT hoodie of course, and the guy behind me in the checkout line started talking to me. He was a FSU fan and said he was really impressed with Dooley and his recruiting so far

Honestly I swear some of you on this board watched ZERO games the past 2 years. Special teams was the one HUGE improvement this staff accomplished in its 1st year. ST was 50x better than last season...not the staff's fault nobody could catch a freakin' punt. I think they even tried practice squad members trying to find someone to put back there. That's a personel problem NOT a coaching problem.

I agree with you that we were lacking in personel but these boys play div.I football so it's up to the coach to make sure they can at least catch a ball, and not let the other them aways get to the 35 or 40. When something like that consistently becomes a problem then it is a coach problem. Oh, and I did watch plenty of games this year.

Golden will be awesome there. He will do very well. This isn't a big name, but it's the right name.

I've never heard of him.....gotta' admit, I'd never heard of Derek Dooley either and he seems to be doing pretty well for us. :p

Miamicane, we'll take you in here as a Vol fan anytime you get ready.

I want Miami and FSU to recruit and do well. I was hoping they would hire Tuberville, but I like Golden too, he is an excellent recruiter. Not the "sexy" pick, but I think he will do good things there, and not look to jump anywhere else.

Golden is much younger than Tubs, better for long term everything. He will be better than Tubs.

It's amazing where he took the Temple program. They almost cancelled the program. Before he got there they lost like 22 of 23 games. He made them competitive. How he ever got anyone to committ to playing Football is beyond me. This is a very good hire.

See what happens when you don't rush a 3 day hire? Miami will soon be the top program in the Sunshine State once again.
