'19 AL QB Taulia Tagovailoa

I could be wrong about that. I've seen it said several places that non-qualifiers still count as one of the 25 IC's for that year, but the bylaws are hard for me to understand on that topic. I hope you're correct, since Georgia had two non-qualifiers this year.
You signed 27 in anticipation of that. Some of your signee’s qualifying would have put you in a jam.

So would you rather have 5 elite OL and a walk-on QB, or 4 elite OL + 1 walk-on OL, and an elite QB? I'll take the latter.
What has been able to beat Bama since Saban has been there? The dynamic QB. Tebow, Cam, Manziel, Watson. No matter how great a defense is, a transcendent QB can combat it. All those great Bama D's, but the special QB's were able to beat them.
Quarterback is the most important position in ALL of sports, imo.

QB is the position that if you need 2 and feelyou do then you make it work number wise around that. It's not the position you risk.

No argument, just that it's based on how the coaches feel, not the fans. Unless the coaches are posting anonymously here on VN, none of use know how they feel. We're all just guessing based off what little information we have.

If coaches were posting anonymously, they'd be crucified by VN.

Disagree, just like you named athletes at the position you can do so for every other sport. Lebron, Jordan, Kobe, Jeter, David Ortiz, Mike Trout, Christiano Ronaldo... every sport has a dynamic leaders. Ole Miss beat Bama with scheme, a good qb, and a great receiver corps.

Most of those teams beat bama with an outstanding defense that let the offense have a chance. QB gets the glory but defense was responsible.

Look at our championship season. Tee Martin was not a great QB(not horrible either), but he didn't lose games. He was a game manager. Our defense is why we won. They were stout.

Absolutely, I honestly believe Johnny football was the only qb to ever truly frustrate Alabama. Tee had peerless who was just phenomenal.

My apologies. I’ll move along. FWIW I don’t buy for a minute that Hurts and Tua are good friends and Taulia and Tyson are best buddies . Especially after Hurts’ comments. Maybe they are for the cameras.

My thought exactly on his comment. Lol yea, I bet they are real good “friends”.

I totally agree with you. A team in any sport can cover up a weakness in a position. In football you cannot ever cover up a weakness at QB. You can never win big without a really good QB.

Never said those guys were not important and dynamic; i said QB is the most important position in sports. You said LeBron...is G/F the most important position in sports? You said Michael...is SG the most important position in sports? Jeter...is SS the most important? Ronaldo...is whatever position he plays the most important?
I'm not saying positions in other sports are not extremely important, a franchise goalie is almost on par with a franchise QB; I'm just saying none of them are the QB position.
You mentioned how Ole Miss beat Bama...scheme, a good QB, great WR's. Now take away the good QB. It doesn't matter the scheme or WR's. Yes, a good scheme can win a ballgame with inferior talent to it's opposition, but you still have to have a QB who can pull off the scheme to pull off an upset. If the QB is bad, doesn't matter what the scheme is. Yes, Ole Miss beat Bama with everything you said, but they had a damn good QB to lead it and execute it. If they don't have the damn good QB, they don't pull it off, neither year. Wallace had 251 yds passing, 3 TDs and no INTs in '14; Kelley went for 341, 3 TDs and no INTs, with 1 TD rushing in '15.

Yep. If they take two with the number of guys the limited spots remaining and number of needs we have then you know it was needed for some reason they are more privy to than us.

Busted. I’m really Coach Niedermeyer.

ivf1, I think you can win big without one, but it is very rare. It will never be consistent.
And yes, covering up weakness at QB, about near impossible!
