Al Washington (Potential DC)

This is a nauseating take. You’re a nega- VOL. If you know so much you should call the coaches and tell them who to hire. I don’t actually mean a bit of this. I’m just enjoying quoting a couple of the crank Yankers I’ve encountered in this thread.
Wow. So wanting a DC with experience suddenly makes me a "nega Vol." Hmm, I never knew.

Just read in one of OSU news sites that UT offered him the DC position by at 1.5 million a year. He currently makes 1.1 million. Did not get the length of contract. This was verified by ABC news in Cleveland. Still no decision. The feeling is it could go either way at this point. Sounds like another coach will be getting a raise at our expense. UT should start charging a commission fee to all of these coaches. We have helped several get decent raises over the years.
He’s currently making $515 k.

Don’t rule out a first time coordinator. Fulmer took over in mid season. Cutcliffe then got the promotion when Fulmer became head coach. Neither had been an OC before. And when we cleaned house in 88, we also moved Doug Mathews from RB coach to DC. That made no sense, except it worked. He simplified things and moved a few players around.

For every Larry Scott, there are guys like this that work out.

No it also makes you “nauseating “ and if you know so much you should call the coaching staff. Don’t forget those parts. 😂
I'm just a fan expressing his thoughts and opinions. I thought that's what this place was for. Guess I should've read the fine print when I registered...15 years ago.

You're right.

Some of these other programs haven't caught on yet. Just look at what Deion Sanders is doing at Jackson State (FCS and HBCU) It's a thing BECAUSE of the current climate. For better or worse.

I liked Ansley....beside him not being able to adjust enough. He was solid. Our trash offense made our defense look worse than it was.

Deion is doing what at Jackson State?

He makes 515k. If we in fact offered 1.5 mil, then it's safe to say that THIS is the guy CJH wants. Personally, I think CJH knows he needs a DC who he can hand the keys to and say "I want an attacking defense; go get 'em.", and be done with it. I like that style, considering that UT will most likely be known under this HC as a high-octane offensive team. CJH is an offense-minded guy, but he knows he needs to find a DC he can trust.

So if UT made that offer, then I hope he takes it. A solid DC may well be the one piece of the puzzle that helps UT win sooner rather than later. Gaining a solid recruiter is always a plus. If UT made this offer, then we've gone big for the best we can get. Winning is once again a priority on the Hill.

Go Vols.

Tearing up the conventional playbook for FCS teams. Yet to be seen if he can coach, but he has put a HBCU FBS team on the front page. Neon Deion rides again. Going to be a lot of fun to watch. Let's hope his defense tackles better than he never did...

He’ll get bored and quit within 1 1/2 years.
