Alabama post game report

I'm sick of these negavols. This forum was a joy in the last week or so. People were excited and optimistic about UT. Why have so many given up? If you're such a fan, stop being a fair weathered fan and cheer no matter what. You think the players appreciate people like that. HELL No. I'm a UK fan, and people are gonna whine and complain that's it not my business, but it GTFO if you're one of them. Seriously.

Just a thought.

I'd trade you for a lot of these "vol" fans man

I swear, the sheer amount of awful, overused basketball cliches that have been thrown around on this forum today... It's like every time I read one I throw up a little.

I think we should just hire a new coach every season and if he loses more than 3 games fire him. That would make the idiots happy.

3 games? I would be ecstatic if it was ONLY 3 games....but no, we lost double digit games and will miss the NCAA Tourney AGAIN.....you can be satisfied with the NIT if you want....I will not....

now if by some luck we get in as an at large bid I will give CCM his due praise....but I seriously doubt it...

its funny how this is mirroring(sp) the football forum during the Dooley yrs.....

So your praise of Martin hinges on the decision of committee, not on what Martin himself has done. Interesting.

If you cut him down and say we choked away a chance, that's fine. If you praise him for rallying the team, that's fine.

But you can't say, "I'll praise him if we're in, and I'll criticize him if we're not." Because it's in the hands of the committee now. There's nothing left Martin can do.

So IMO you have to decide NOW whether you'll praise Martin or not.

Do u think if maymon had played this year we would be in the tournament?

This team won 20 games without him.. Might wanna keep that in mind.

So stop buying UT gear, watching games, being a fan, etc. Since it's going to take a massive collapse for Martin to get fired anytime soon. Look at IU this year and how they had to rebuild.

Golden seemed to shy away from bringing the ball up court. I for one cannot wait for him to be gone, Stokes should have been posting up and the the ball needs to be fed down low instead of taking 3's . That falls on the coaches shoulders.
Also horrible coaching of how to bring the ball up when pressed. Usually had 15 seconds on the shot clock left... Lol

I will still buy my UT gear and watch games and be a huge freaking fan....so bc I criticize a coach then I am not a fan? that is ludicrous....I proudly wear my orange all yr and cheer for every UT sport....

comparing what CCM has to what IU had to come back from is laughable and shows your BBall IQ is not very high....IU was decimated with only something like 4 or 5 scholly players left when Crean took over....nowhere near the same....Crean had also taken a team to the NCAA Tourney before also....

if he is such a great coach as yall make him out to be then he should have coached the team better and not have to worry about the committee....but he didn't....I didn't say I would criticize if he didn't make it...I will criticize him anyway bc he should have us in and not relying on the committee...but I will give him some slack if they make it...I also think he did a pretty good job of bringing the team back from the brink of disaster and winning the last 6/8 or 7/9 whichever it was....I am not saying fire him this yr....I am saying that if he doesn't make it next yr then he should be let go...

All he can do is put them in the position to make shots. He can't knock it down for them. How many wide open jumpers and layups did we miss? Too many.

I think you missed my point, but whatever.

I agree it shouldn't have come to this. We had a chance to remove all doubt today and we **** the bed in a big way.

if I missed your point I apologize....sometimes when you're reading something instead of listening and hearing the tone or seeing the person's face it can be difficult to get the meaning....I think he did a decent job without Maymon in the lineup...I get the point that he doesn't shoot or rebound but he does put the guys out there who he thinks can...Golden was struggling bad and he should have sat him more...played Richardson at point....or McBee....

No it's fine.. it can be hard to convey a point through the Internet.

I'm not absolving him of any fault for today's loss. IMO it shouldn't have happened. We'd been playing so well and needed that win, and frankly I think we're better than Alabama. It might sound crazy, but I do. We just didn't play like it.

But you can't take out Golden. He's literally our only option at point. Golden at his worst is still a better PG than all those guys.

His point was that the die has been cast in terms of what Martin can or can't do this season to make it into the tournament. Your decision to embrace him or not is no longer based on anything he can do. The decision is out of his hands, so your choice can and should be made now, and not based on the result of the opinions of a committee.

you're correct....I completely understand that...but when you see the lackadaisical effort out there, then as a coach he shoud've done something about it....anything...what did he have to lose....if Golden is going into one of his funks then take him out and put someone else in...but he has next yr with a healthy Maymon to produce and I will judge him accordingly then...

Nailed it. Thank you sir. :hi:

I agree about Golden but that is just it....Golden knows that too...so take him out as sort of a wake up call...I mean how much worse could it have been....put someone in with the hunger to play hard...maybe for just 5 minutes so Golden sees that he can be replaced whether he is better or not....

thats fair....I completely understand that...but we always judge Coaches in BBall if they make the tourney...if he makes it, whether it be by winning or by a committee, he gets the credit....if not...either by losing or by the committee, he gets blamed....just the way it is...not perfect

I see your point and I respect it. Truly.

But that's just not something you can do in arguably your biggest, most important game of the year. You might try that midseason, but you aren't taking out your best guys to 'send a message' in must-win games like the one today. You have to roll with what you know gives you the best chance. And that's Golden.

while that is true, it was our biggest game and Golden was laying a rotten egg....I think he should've....but in the end it may have ended up with the same result...Alabama wanted it more.....sometimes Heart and desire trump talent....esp in BBall

If there were still games to play and UT could somehow control their destiny, you'd be right. But the season is over, and you make it sound as if you are withholding judgement on the season and Martin's coaching job pending the opinion of a committee comprised of bias and human error. Either 20-12 is acceptable or it isn't. What if Tennessee were 24-8, yet somehow was passed over by the committee for one reason or another? Did Martin do a a good job, or was the season a failure because they got snubbed?
