Alabama transfers

Depends on who the replacement is. If they whiff in the big names (highly unlikely), then they could see a decent exodus. However if they hit on one of the big targets then they may not lose many at all.

I hope Heupel and the staff are on the phone trying their best to get some of their recruits.
Agreed. Literally be on the phone incessantly recruiting those guys.

What if he is better than Squirrell?
They've built this team on culture. Squirrel is one of the most loved players on the team and was our leading WR. If you pay Bond more than any other WR on the roster and bench Squirrel, it doesn't line up with the culture that the coaches have worked so hard to establish. It doesn't exactly promote "family".

So if you can get a player that’s better than one that’s already on your roster, you don’t because that upsets the “family” atmosphere? Are you for real?

Didn’t say that. But if his culture means that he is unwilling to possibly upgrade his staff because of upsetting said culture, then no. A head coach should be willing to evaluate his staff and make changes if needed.

This convo is about a player

Are you? Do you realize how many players hit the portal that most would consider "better" players, but our staff didn't consider them at all? Different coaches will have different approaches on how to build a "team". Some will do things to possibly win right now and are strictly business and cutthroat. Others will try to build for long term success and create an environment of playing for your "brother". Culture is a main priority for Heupel. Family and loyalty are part of the foundations for that culture. You may not like it, and be more of a win at all costs type of person, but that's not what this program is right now. I don't have a problem with it. Slightly better on the field doesn't always equal better for the team or program. If this kid says he wants to come in and earn a spot because he wants to be part of that culture, then I'm all in. I'm not big on mercenaries who will play for the highest bidder though.
