All things STOCKS

When to start buying? Trying to be patient. It’s hard after days like today.

The expected 0.25% tomorrow shouldn’t have much effect. The comments will. Announcing likely just one more quarter point to go and markets will be short term launch pads. Announcing a recession of unknown length is near certain will crush markets. So they won’t show their hand and markets will wander aimlessly for another 9 months +/-.

That dam recession. It's way past due.

Got your eye on some NVDA? I'd wait.
ha, I've owned it for a few years. It has been one of the few stocks I've viewed as a forever hold primarily because everything I read says they are at the head of the class in their industry.
You expect some bad news? Likely a new direction or just a blip? Near an all time high?

I already own NVDA. Bought in June and was also assigned in September at $152 (average cost around $157). With the 162x earnings multiple and (I think) 12x forward sales I really should sell some shares. But letting it ride with the AI insanity is hard to resist.

I kind of want to trade out NVDA for ASML instead.

However it seems like the companies that sell equipment to make low end and mid level chips should do well. Building semi manufacturing capacity outside of China needs to be a long term strategy. I’m not 100% certain which companies are best positioned for that. I have a smaller position in AMAT. ASML might not benefit as much with anti-China policy as they’ve already been prevented from selling the CCP their high end equipment.

Companies that will supply AAPL migrating manufacturing out of China should do well.

I’ve been out of MSTR since my shares were called a month ago at $280. It ran to around $345, but will open around $320 today (down $10).

I sold 5/12 TSLA $160 puts a week or two ago. Last I checked shares were $161/$162. I’d rather not be assigned. Seems like TSLA could fall to $100-$120.

Unless oil equities take off in the morning, I expect to add some shares (or short some put contracts) tomorrow. XLE (heavily overweighted with XOM and CVX (43%)), CVX, OXY, or XOP.

First Horizon deal fell apart...ruh roh

TD is being absorbed by Scwab, correct? How was the First Horizon deal factoring in? I have a TD brokerage account and have been weighing moving it to Fidelity vs Schwab when the move is complete, only because I’m more familiar with the Fidelity platform.

TD sold its USA brokerage business (what we call TD Ameritrade) many years ago. It's been a totally separate company for a long time. I had no idea of that until we started talking about this merger in here, and I realized the TD is not acting like it's the same company, and it's not.

Schwab took over the Ameritrade portion of TD. TD still has the bank business...

TD Bank and TD Ameritrade had already split into 2. Schwab has already closed on buying TD Ameritrade. Schwab-TDA just haven’t completed combining operations. Schwab has nothing to do with the First Horizon deal.

Ugh! 2 of my largest holdings, Regeneron REGN and Novo Nordisk,NVO lost 6% and 4% yesterday.
Still the head of the class for drug companies?
Also own MRNA, LLY and JNJ.

LLY is a good one. MRNA had huge success with the vaccine. My only issue with them is the CEO sells his shares every time that are awarded.

NVO had a bad day yesterday due to earning report. They can not make the Wegovy fast enough to meet demand. Therefore, they are starting to make 1/2 doses of Wegovy to get people started.

NVO will be back. Think it will regain half it's losses today.

Supply and demand. For the Novo products, demand far exceeds supply. Their current USA users have an average BMI of 38. Therefore, they are going to be using the products for quite some time. NVO will be over $200 easy by year end.

Don't follow JNJ or REGN. But, you have a very good mix in your portfolio there.

BMI 38. Does that mean these folks will likely be on Wegovy or similar until they lose weight and for years after to keep the weight off?

NVO seems like a good LT hold with their diabetes business. Everybody not paying attention is getting poisoned with high fructose corn syrup being in EVERYTHING. Dexcom (DXCM) is another, but 165x is expensive.
