I agree that it's not a requirement but it would help. IMO, the benefits of releasing the photos make sense to me for several reasons mentioned but if they don't I won't lose sleep.

The pictures won't bring back any of the friends and Soldiers that have been lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. The pictures will not restore the countless broken families from 9/11 and the GWOT. People might have some hope that it will bring "closure"; ultimately, though, if and when the pictures are released and/or leaked, those hopes will disappoint.

Bin Laden is dead; he has been brought to justice. This act demonstrates to others that there is no supreme invulnerability in these or any terrorist organizations. The operation also uncovered a wealth of intel; this intel will be used to interdict and disrupt future terrorist schemes. That is all: no more; no less.

I find it very hard to believe that they would make a mistake as to who it was, conjure this up as a cover if they got him some other way earlier, etc.

Of course the pictures won't bring any of those brave soldiers and fallen civilians back. I too believe Osama is dead. My point quite simply is pictures confirming would help. Although it might not help you, there are many who are also family and friends of soldiers and family who it would help. And again, I agree with releasing them and if they don't, I'm ok with that too.

And to your point, this mission completed so much more than killing the head of the snake, it helped the country gather intel so go after some other significant targets. An all around success in my book.

It's next to impossible for me to believe they didn't "get him". I mean, screaming blue monkeys guys, can you begin to imagine if after this verified information came out that he was alive and still on the loose? I think there's basically zero chance they risk that.

The "interesting" conspiracy (to me anyway) is that they most certainly got him but he's now in the same place the Roswell aliens and "the special box" are located getting worked over by "top men".

The only reason there might be some suspicion about it if it was said by Bush is the history of statements by him about the Middle East and Al Qaeda, Iraq, etc., so many times having turned out to be.... well, inaccurate.
