so he owned stock and not owns the company? There's a small difference. Also the link you provided says he was giving the money away and is no longer connected. Funny huh?

Republicans are what ruined this country the past 8 years...They are the reason unemployment is at an all time high...They started a useless war and have proven absolutely nothing by it...Defending Bush is insane and whoever does is completely blind....And left a complete mess for Obama to clean up..This is certainly not worth discussing in this area of the forum.

Right, and Mike Leach would have been a great hire too.

considering he's stumbled on his words during the campaign trail, and had some trouble today. everyone wants to blame W for the economic troubles, however when the "pubs" tried to bring up the problems that the housing market was going to cause due to loaning money to ppl who cld not pay their mortgage, the dems pushed it aside like it was nothing. funny ppl forget that the dem congress approval ratings are lower than Bush's

I do have to defend him on the words today...he was just trying to give the chief justice a chance to correct himself, then decided to roll with it.

Here's my .02, & it probably isn't worth that.

Bush has kept us from having another 911- Awesome good thing
We can't pull out of Afghanistan or Iraq right now and it was the right thing to do IMO.
Bush did not one da&% thing about gas prices which started everyone's fear IMO and helped cause the economy to start to tank. Few of us who commute (any distance at all) everyday don't have $4.60/gallon gas in our budget- Worst job ever

All the social programs we have are eating us alive. Stop them, and stop them now. NEW RULE #1 if you elect Rockytophigh....If you have been in government assisted living you have 9 months to start paying it yourself...unless you're disabled then you can reapply. Rule #2. If you have been on foodstamps for more than 9 months or more than twice in 2 years......you have 6 months and you're out for 24 months......unless you're disabled then you can reapply. No more bailouts, no more handouts. End of story...have a great day.

Seriously?

A) Why is this not in the politics forum?

B) To try and argue about whether Bush was a good pres/an idiot or to say that Obama's the greatest thing ever/the antichrist is ridiculous. Checks and balances. Congress carries every bit as much blame/praise as these singular individuals. I loathe this two party system that we're forced to decide between. Where's the legitimate candidate for for the middle man that's not some loon? There's not one because you can't get elected without your party's dollars. Millions and millions of 'em. Funny how that national debt keeps climbing.

C) Why is this not in the politics forum?

Bush had to deal with things Clinton never had to deal with in his terms. He had to make very tough (and unpopular) decisions. He gets blamed for a lot of stuff that in all reality wasn't his fault. I hope he has a happy retirement.

Good luck to Obama. I hope he is as good as everyone thinks.

Ummm...when I posted in this tread, it was in the politics forum...and I posted before you. I guess it took you a while to type it and it was moved right before I posted.

Bush was a failure on most fronts, period. He set the conservative movement back. Good riddance. I'd rather not have the empty suit europiberal we elected, but it's the knee jerk stupidity that generally follows an awful president. It take abysmal performance to make the radical acceptable. Bush qualified, hands down.

To make a correction to this stupid remark. Clinton believed that everyone should be allowed to have a roof over their head. That meant allowing people of little or no income to move into homes that they could not afford. This my friend started the ball rolling-NOT BUSH!!!!! Democrats can deny this all they want, but it is the truth. Another correction:Who was the last president to pass a bill? Answer: NONE. Presidents cannot pass bills the house and the senate pass these and guess who is in control.

My suggestion to you is to go back and crack the spine on your Civics textbook to see how the government runs.
Excuse Me? :lolabove: so You are telling me that because people were allowed to move into home they could not afford caused this entire country to collapse??...When Clinton left office the country was in fine shape, The economy was fine...Are You seeing a trend here?...Or do you have your blinders on?...bush starts a war with a country We had no business attacking...NONE...ZERO...And its costing the USA billions a month..National security was NOT at risk from Iraq and if you believe in the weapons of mass destruction crap then you truly are stupid...He attacked iraq and left a madman loose in the world....7 years later that madman is STILL loose...Explain to me oh genius of the civics book why that is?....And why oh why did the USA elect a democratic president if the republicians were doing such a bang up job?...Oh and i've heard this many times from the republicans, " we are so close to winning"...Exactly WHAT are we so close to winning?...Iraq?...See Vietnam for that answer :salute:

Do you really think that had nothing to do with the economy?

it had nothing to do with it? The economy was fine? No big event happened in 2001 coupled with the dot com bust? Yes, I am starting to see the trend and blinders you are talking about

It's a little more complicated than that. Read a book or something.
