I was talking about empathy. Which really shouldn't be that difficult to show (see an example below), but for a few people it's almost impossible.

No, the fact that their prospects in America are much better than those in their present country is what encourages them. And who can blame them? It's why tens of millions of people have immigrated to the United States over 200 years.

No I was correct the first time. Like it or not. Plenty of info out now that Pueblo Sin Fronteras talked these people up on how easy it would be to get in the US and yes the Dims encouraged it.

They were told don’t come they won’t be let in.

The thought of free **** on my dime is what motivates them. Nothing more. You used to have to earn your living here. Comparing these people to those who came here before them is stupid.

Desperate uneducated people tend to make poor decisions. I understand why they came. I think many here, even those who claim these people are harming their kids, would make the same decision. Doesn’t mean we should let them in. Doesn’t mean it’s our fault if some die.

Now I do find it interesting how the deaths are being screeched about. These deaths have been happening for decades. You can’t scream at trump and not have investigated this well before now. It’s hypocritical at best and potentially far more nefarious at worst.

I don’t disagree. While people hear what they want to hear, it isn’t hard to get hyped when you have Pueblo Sin Fronteras flat out misrepresenting the chances of these people getting in.

I don’t fault anybody for trying to better their lives and their families lives. But it isn’t 1915 anymore you can’t just get on a boat and get off in NYC and walk in. And when there is all kinds of information saying don’t come we aren’t going to let you in all culpability falls on the caravan and those encouraging them. That most definitely is not the Trump administration.

Even in 1915 immigrants to NYC had to pass through Ellis Island and be legally processed. No one was allowed to just "walk in."

The Ellis Island inspection process took several hours, and did not guarantee that an individual or their family would pass. Immigrants endured medical inspections and hours of legal questioning before they were allowed to step on American soil. Many were detained because they were sick. In fact, on July 19, 1884, then President Chester Arthur issued a proclamation allowing the government to quarantine people entering the United States to prevent the spread of pestilence due to mounting concerns over tuberculosis. Other times, immigrants were detained because they didn't have immediate family members to meet them or didn't have the financial means to settle in the United States.

Children and families could be separated.

If an immigrant child was age 12 or older and didn’t pass the medical exam, he or she was deported, alone. If a child was under the age of 12 and had a chronic or contagious disease, he or she was also deported, but had to be accompanied by one parent.

You can read more, it was no "walk In" even then and you don't want to even look at the Chinese/Japanese/Asian immigration laws.
