No one planned for this. There is a reason why ranks have to be transport by rail.
Screech! Your TDS is going to ruin your holiday. That is such stupid nonsense. Only a President who has respect for authoritarian regimes and their public displays of military might, would insist on parading tanks through our nation's capital on Independence Day. Trump is an embarrassment to our norms and values. This is Trump tipping his cap to Kim Jong Un. Unbelievable.
I don't get what's abnormal about it. From pregame military aircraft flyovers to citizens touring Aircraft carriers in NYC, people love the military stuff. That is such stupid nonsense. He is even going to give a political speech on the night of July 4th in front of the Lincoln Memorial, where just before the fireworks begin, he will undoubtedly be talking about the "witch hunt" and "Crazy" Nancy and "Sleepy" Joe... on a holiday intended to celebrate our nation's independence and the people who have sacrificed to maintain it. Make no mistake about it, Trump is just egotistical enough to try and make the entire event in DC about himself and his own personal grievances. What a petty, little narcissistic man.Was there wide discontent with the way DC had been celebrating the holiday? Was something wrong with it?
Obviously yes--it wasn't about Trump. Time for rebranding!
I swear, you have the worst case of TDS on the forum. Trump has not done one thing that has negatively affected you or anybody else in 2-1/2 years, and he is in your head 24/7/365. You need a break. A parade with tanks is exactly what we are used to seeing from the Russians and the North Koreans. We are the United States of America. We don't need to flaunt our war machines. Every country in the world already knows that we can kick their a$$. Who are we trying to impress and why? What purpose does it serve? Or is the point to simply satisfy the ego of a leader who clearly does hold some admiration for these sorts of public displays under authoritarian regimes?I don't get what's abnormal about it. From pregame military aircraft flyovers to citizens touring Aircraft carriers in NYC, people love the military stuff.
I think it's ridiculous but i cant see the stretch to the "norms and values" point.
Is it not the same as a flyover of bombers and fighters?A parade with tanks is exactly what we are used to seeing from the Russians and the North Koreans. We are the United States of America. We don't need to flaunt our war machines. Every country in the world already knows that we can kick their a$$. Who are we trying to impress and why? What purpose does it serve? I commented on the tank aspect, wasn't intended do be a contradiction. Not much to do with sour feelings, as you suggested. But honesty, yeah thinking about the whole deal, It does make me feel a bit sour, so I'll apologize for being overly snippy. How am i taking it personally?
Like you, I offered my perspective. And we agree on the silliness of the gesture.
I even made nice with 4th well-wishes.
I agree it is silly. And i agree there is similarity with a flyover before a football game. It's similar, although the logistics involved with moving tanks definitely require considerably more planning and man power... and for what, exactly? This is so silly.
