My dad served there. He said the people treated him great. My sister spent a year there, people treated her good. 5 of my classmates studied abroad there for 6 months, were treated nice. I spent only a weak and a half there but they treated me way better than most Americans would, and certainly better than the Italians.

And I meant the Russians occupying Germany during the cold war.

We have an ocean between us and any European threat. And if the Western Euopeans countries sack it up and start defending themselves, we will have that extra layer of protection.

I say let’s leave em all. Take back the Western Hemisphere. Stop all trade with China and start promoting manufacturing in Mexico and South America. We’re already energy independent.

I'd love to see us pull out of Germany, until Trump came around it was a no go. We have occupied that country for 75 years, it's time for us to take our money, our troops and marbles and go home.

Defending themselves doesn't necessarily mean they're defending us, especially if we've said we don't need or want them.

We start backing out on NATO allies, those allies won't be with us if someone starts running missile drills over the north pole or war games off the west coast. I'm no foreign policy expert, but we're tied to the hip with western Europe.

Maybe the military guys can shed some light, but I think Germany is used as somewhat of a staging area and a lot of wounded troops are sent there. Don't know how valuable that is, but I think having more allies is better than having fewer.

A C5 or C17 can go wheels up anywhere in the world and get back to Dover via in flight refueling. Our German air field is convenient. About 1.5 hours later we would be in England. Or we can fly non stop to Dover Delaware.

yall know how deeply entrenched my family is and has been in the military. Might be surprised that I agree with Ras ...we should defend the UK, Canada, and AUS ...they would fight to the death for us. The rest of western Europe needs to pay for their own defense. Bring our boys home. With the tech we have and our natural isolation nobody is going to ever try to invade the US except illegal immigrants. We should be like a somewhat larger Israel....keep the best tech on Earth....kill indiscriminately and without mercy only when we HAVE TO...and never apologize for jack sheit. No more bases all over Earth and proxy wars...but no more empty threats or half arsing war either...when a line has been crossed after a warning by an enemy, overwhelming force and total war destruction. No rebuilding...no nation building ..no bullsheit. American lives and American interests above all else. Tired of us being the "world police". Either drop the hammer altogether on them, or stay home and leave it alone . We have half arsed Afghanistan just like we did Viet Nam. Crazy. Either go balls out and level every standing structure non civilian, or leave them alone and stay home. No excuse for us to spend 20 years in a country the size of a smaller US state. If we are THAT worried about them getting their hands on a nuke from Pakistan, then it is Pakistan we need to be having serious conversations with, right? Not occupying Afghanistan to supposedly keep terrorists at bay....
