American Idol 2014

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out now. I think Caleb is the best but I have a feeling Jena is gonna win it.

As soon as Seacrest announced the "twist" I knew Sam was the low man again. They tried to get the contestants to vote secret-ballot for a proposal to suspend tonight's elimination until next week, with the caveat that 2 people would leave next week instead of one. But this was really a desperate attempt for the producers to keep their chosen one, Sam, alive. They did make one mistake, though...they required a unanimous vote for the proposal to pass...they probably thought all 5 of them would gladly accept it. They were wrong. There were 2 votes against it.

I'm not so sure it was for Sam. History tells us that the saved contestant sticks around for some time but eventually goes home so that's really no surprise. At the very least it was an interesting psychology experiment. I had this strange thought after the vote that maybe Sam was one of the people that actually voted to send someone home possibly even thinking it was going to be him. I'd be curious to know who the other person was who voted no.
It was the right call to make though as the pecking order probably won't change much from one week to the other but why risk it? If even one of the top contestants has an off night next week that could send them home over someone who isn't as good.

It's most likely Jessica going home next week.

Caleb's first performance this week was just awful.

Hard to say who really voted which way on the "keeping the group together" vote, but I personally saw no benefit in it for Jena or Caleb. Have they ever even been in the bottom? And after the way the judges (well at least J-Lo and Keith) have hyped them up, they had to be feeling safe. There was nothing for them to gain by making next week a double elimination. And honestly, it was a crappy thing for the producers to do to them all. If it comes out who the "no" votes were they get villified, and once again the voting gets tainted by something other than actual performances. I just found it to be an extremely dumb idea.

Idol is more about creating drama than it is about showcasing talent anymore. I suppose it always has been, but it gets worse every year. I thought the idea of having the contestants vote on whether or not to suspend the vote was ridiculous. The judges seemed surprised that there were any no votes.

I admit I was slightly surprised as well, but not shocked by any means. I guess I was more prepared for the disappointment of someone NOT going home. Guess the whole "happy family", sitting around the dinner table talking facade is just that.

I think they're all friends up to a point, but there can only be one winner.

Apparently Caleb put his foot in his mouth, calling fans retards among other comments that weren't very smart.

Jessica does not know how to perform. She just proved that with the Kelly Clarkson song.

Holy crap, Jena just won it all. That take on Elvis's "Can't Help Falling In Love" is the high point of the entire season.

This. Perfect song sung perfectly.Totally blew everyone else out of the water.

I think Jessica goes home this week. Her first song was typical no emotion. Her second song was an awful choice, though after I muted it I noticed she wasn't doing the stone face and was actually showing emotion. After Jena's performance in round 3, I don't even remember Jess's third song.

I am not that excited about Jena. I think Caleb is way better than the other three.
I would rank the final four
1.Caleb
2. Jessica
3. Jena
4. Alex.

The judges have been trying to swing the votes to Jena. They have been unfairly critical of Jessica.

I would vote to send Alex home but Jessica will probably be gone.

Jmo.

I disagree that they've been unfair in their criticism of Jessica. She's got the voice, but she hasn't shown the emotion. And her second song last night was a horrible song choice.

Jena crushed "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You". By far the performance of the year.

Alex is hands down the best artist on the show. Not the best singer, but definately the best artist.

I must be watching a different show because for the life of me I don't see what everyone likes about her. IMO she butchers every song she does, and the Elvis song was the biggest hatchet job of them all.

I guess that's why music is so diverse. I literally stood up to watch her perform that song. I was just mesmerized by her choice of melody. I have listened to it at least half a dozen times today. I thought it was phenomenal.

I guess I'm in the minority. It looks like she is gonna win it all.
