IMDB is usually pretty spot on for the most part. Usually the moronic trolls that give a movie a 0, and the moronic fanboys that give the movie a perfect 10, cross each other out.

Was not aware of that RT tool. pretty neat.

Don't get me started on the IMDB discussion boards though. WOOF. A lot of stupidity in there.

Wow, just now reading up on Chris Kyle's fabrications...the Ventura thing, the carjacking, and the shooting of Katrina looters...I don't think I could watch the movie without cynically thinking the whole time the guy is a big liar.

I doubt he lied about his in theater exploits, confirmed kills are, well confirmed.

The only thing I found odd was him carrying a sat phone for personal use while running missions.

I am very ignorant of the story, but I am curious as to what was fabricated here because I am interested in his story. Can you go a bit further here? Shooting Katrina looters?

That, punching Jesse Ventura and killing a couple car jackers.

After he was discharged, the began telling people some tall tales - all about things he did after Iraq. I think some people who knew him said he felt pressure to keep up his persona as some kind of legend.

Ahhh I see. So these stories come after his time in Iraq? Man, these stories are pretty outlandish.

Yeah. But it doesn't change the content of the movie. Everything portrayed in the movie is corroborated by the guys who were there.

He claims to have shot 30 katrina looters from the top of the SuperDome, but New Yorker and Washington Post I believe were the sources that debunked it.

He claimed to have shot and killed 2 carjackers and that when the police arrived on the scene, he had the cops call the pentagon to find out he's the ish and that he shouldn't be charged.

He claimed Jesse Ventura said disparaging things to him and his friends about Navy SEALs and that he punched Ventura. Ventura proved in court that this was false defamation of character, which is a very hard thing to prove.

Basically he makes up a bunch of stories to make himself look like a badass. It puts everything he's said in question, in my mind.

He was a SEAL. You get issued anything you want and usually DO anything you want with it. I saw a SEAL going into combat with a sawed off shotgun once (as a secondary weapon).

I used to use our HF radio's to listen to ESPN :) in rather austere locations.

Awesome movie. I won't let those outlandish stories, that are hard to believe from the get go, detract from everything he did in service of his country.

I actually know a guy who was a special forces sniper (he got out in 2004). He was pretty crazy. Like crazy temper with his 3 year old boy. I don't think most people are capable of doing that line of work and being normal.

That wasn't until after Kyle died so where or he did or didn't couldn't be proven. IMO

Just me but I think it was pretty low of Ventura to force Kyle's wife to pay for something she wasn't a part of with the lawsuit.

I read up on this a little today... The suit was filed while Kyle was still alive. Also Ventura offered several times to drop the suit if Kyle would just admit his story wasn't true and the guy was too prideful to do so.

Sucks for the widow but I have no issue with what Ventura did.

I'm pretty sure Ventura had witnesses in the trial that affirmed the story was false. I read one account that one of Kyle's friends testified that the story was not accurate.

Yeah from what I can gather if there had been even the smallest shred of evidence that Kyles's story was even remotely close to reality there's basically zero chance Ventura wins the case.

Saw an interview with Ventura where he talked about how he's essentially been blacklisted from Seal gatherings and how it's not infrequent to have strangers call him unamerican and a traitor. All over an incident that appears to be a complete and total fabrication by Kyle.

I can respect what he did for this country overseas but, with that said, he appears to have been a pretty big douche.

I think for Jesse it was a matter of honor. He himself served, and he didn't want people believing what was basically dogcrap. It had nothing to do with money and everything about proving he wasn't "that guy". He did offer to drop the suit before Chris died if Chris would admit it was bs, but Chris didn't want to eat crow. Chris's own ego created the case.

And for what it's worth, I read somewhere that Jesse had evidence he wasn't even in the same state as Chris when the incident supposedly occured.

Well she did make money off a book she didn't write that told a false story at Ventura's expense, so...she still comes out on top as far as the book is concerned. It's not like he's suing a broke old widow. She's rich off his defamation.

Ventura is also a conspiracy theorist who believes the WTC buildings were brought down using thermite paint.

Everything he did on tour was confirmed by the military and his cohorts. I think the other stuff was just to mess with people and troll them w outlandish stories.
