Everything he did on tour was confirmed by the military and his cohorts. I think the other stuff was just to mess with people and troll them w outlandish stories.

Lying to the author of Lone Survivor is trolling? He recounted one of his lies to him so he could put it in a book. It's not like he made a joke off the cuff. This ish is "on the record" type stuff.

Ventura is also a conspiracy theorist who believes the WTC buildings were brought down using thermite paint.

Not to derail this thread, but those planes alone did not bring those towers down. Buildings do not implode on themselves like that unless by design.

The jet fuel explanation is complete bs and is a slap in the face to the law of physics.

That's all I'm sayin'

I read where Eastwood had to re-write the ending because ole dude got murdered while they filming.

Maybe you should probably put spoilers in white font, like this: see what I did here?

That way if people want to read what was typed there, they can just highlight it...but putting a spoiler warning in a post's own title bar doesn't really do much, especially since the title for an individual post is in such small font that a lot of people don't see/notice it

That may be the case, We'll never know for sure. With that said, if he did in fact do it just to mess with people then he should've recanted once he saw what it was doing to Ventura's reputation.

Are people missing the point with this movie? I see everyone saying great things about the military after seeing the movie but I kinda feel dirty after watching it. I feel this way because I think that's what Eastwood was really trying to do here: illustrate the psychological damage of war, and how the USA often glosses over such a serious issue (PTSD) as long as we 'win'. Of course I felt proud of the military after the movie, but at the same time I just felt guilty. Like really guilty. Anyone else feel this way?

I didn't bring Ventura into the thread.

He's an important part of this thread. His sanity is not.

I could care less about Ventura, IMO he did nothing for this country like what Kyle did. If you want to see real heros watch Restrepo. Also If you happen to run into a WWII veteran buy his lunch.

You should also watch Korengal. It's a follow up to Restrepo and it's available on Netflix.

What Ventura did or didn't do for the country has NOTHING to do with what Kyle did to Ventura.

Saw the movie yesterday, Cooper did an excellent job but the movie itself wasn't very good. Eastwood dropped the ball and made a movie without a message.

Not impressed.

or there is now the option to do spoiler tags

they are pretty cool

just use
insert spoiler here [/ spoiler] without the space after the slash

Spoiler to True story? Wouldn't that be kind of like saying Abe Lincoln dying at the end of Lincoln is a spoiler? My bad since you didn't know the story though, I'll put a warning.

Nobody better spoil Selma for me! :aggressive:
