An Oral History of the Night Lane Kiffin....

I don't think karma has quite taken care of Kiffin. The guy has made millions while accomplishing very little, and although he isn't being paid the obscene salary he received at USC, he still managed to land a pretty good gig making over $600,000 a year in a low-cost of living area.

As far as lasting more than 2 years at Alabama, I'd say you're probably right. With Lane's luck, he'll probably parlay a 1 or 2 year stint with Bama into a head coaching job at a smaller school for ~$1 million a year. The guy must be the best interviewee the world has ever known.

I just don't see those 2 egos meshing very well. You know Kiffin probably can't stand not being the head coach

In the grande scheme of things....the bigger picture, everything happens for a reason. Without Kiffin, there would be no Dooley. With no Dooley, there would be no Butch Jones. Without Butch we probably would not have had the number of legacies and commits that we have. It's life...roll with the punches and be prepared and ready when your time comes. We are now ready and prepared!!!

GBO!!!

-I will be glad when practice starts and we don't have to fill our time by re hashing something nobody really cares about anymore, Kifftard is a scum sucking maggot... Slow sports day I guess:bash:

Three pages of " not caring"...and counting...I remember being totally shocked when the news broke and numb through the ensuing coach search...guess you were an oak...much respect. :hi:

I am one that gets aggravated at people who rehash the CLK stuff over and over again. BUT I still clicked on the article. I thought some of the quotes were interesting.

For the record I still think DD hurt the program FAR MORE than CLK did.

I thought it was telling Thompson's comments about Dooley. Likely some bias but that's some harsh words about DD.

Great article. A lot of interesting perspectives on how it all went down, and hopefully an era that can now be viewed as distinctly in the past with things looking brighter on the Hill.

Love this part...

Hamilton: I was not aware of what was happening in Knoxville during my trip back. If I had been on campus, I would not have allowed Lane to attempt a "press conference" on campus because at that point he was no longer our coach and had not been in Knoxville earlier that day. I was initially tied up with going ahead with calls to potential candidates for the opening and then the actual travel back.

I'm starting to think that Vol fans actually secretly wonder what could have been with this nut.

I can answer that: Sanctions.
We basically paid through the nose for worse when we hired Dooley.

Mike Hamilton should have never been allowed to hire Kiffin's replacement.

^This pretty much sums up Hamiltons tenure on the hill:
"The wrong guy, at the wrong place, at the wrong time!" :banghead2::banghead2:
