Why would they be paying Bruce Pearl a $2million buyout if he is #1. Working without a contract, and #2 Committed addition violations and additional non-ncaa actions. Those 2 things just don't add up. You don't pay someone like that $2 million. you just kick them to the curb and say adios!

a transparent attempt by the administration to explain why Pearl is being fired NOW. The statement says the new violations are non-NCAA violations--meaning, I assume, very minor. But they give the administration something to hang Pearl's dismissal on now. Cheek, with his reference to the "cumulative effect" of the investigation, is saying essentially that he changed his mind.
