something does smell fishy. Hamilton just trying to save his arse probably.

Why would they be paying Bruce Pearl a $2million buyout if he is #1. Working without a contract, and #2 Committed addition violations and additional non-ncaa actions. Those 2 things just don't add up. You don't pay someone like that $2 million. you just kick them to the curb and say adios!

He's not getting a $2 million buyout according to the statement released by Hamilton.

a transparent attempt by the administration to explain why Pearl is being fired NOW. The statement says the new violations are non-NCAA violations--meaning, I assume, very minor. But they give the administration something to hang Pearl's dismissal on now. Cheek, with his reference to the "cumulative effect" of the investigation, is saying essentially that he changed his mind.

The dynamics of the case with our current AD have evolved further incl. additional, well known screw ups occurring in Jan 2010 and Mar 2011. It is my opinion that our university is best served to make a change moving forward. Therefore I'm asking for Hammy's resignation effective immediately.

How can you people possible defend him after Hamilton and Cheek both told you what happened...

Its not like they have been out to get Pearl the whole time.. They have been in his corner since day 1... How can you honestly continue to defend him?

They are paying him 950K overall.

1) A thank you for all he's done for the program.

2) To make him take all the blame for the sanctions.

3) TO make this transition as smooth as possible and easy as possible.

That pretty much sums it up.

Reread what you said... Minor VIOLATION when absolutely no violation is excusable....

So your belief is that Hamilton and Cheek are flat-out lying, and there were no new violations? They're just making it up?

That's not what the statement says.

Sounds to me that something else occurred this month that was substantial enough to "seal the deal" and possibly push Hamilton over the edge, hence the oddly-timed statement right before the NCAA tourney.

That was in February, it was a non NCAA incident. No one that I've seen or heard has any clue about this March violation.

I am really curious to find out what it was. Who knows how major it could be...but it's tournament time, I wonder how he had time to commit a violation.
