Annoying people who always want stuff for free

The ignorance of how restaurants operate by some people is one of the problems. But then again, you have some people that do know that still don't care.

I know about tip outs, all I was saying is I haven't seen a busboy in years... Here in Vegas we have barracks, hostesses, drink and food runners etc so I realize how the industry works.... Put a lot of years in the business but it was many years ago.

Why should I care......honestly

Bearcat, what do you do? Do you deal with the public on a daily basis? If not, then how would you feel if you busted your butt at work but you were never compensated for what you did? You still made the minimum salary or hourly wage for your position?

I used to work in the service industry for a few years while finishing college, I am quiet aware of the "struggle". If you are good at what you do as a server and are in a decent area and restaurant, you can average out to make a decent living. I think my "give a damn" went away after I started seeing tip jars at a burger king drive thru window....it was all downhill from there lol.

It's not the tipping that I have an issue with, I gladly tip and understand the game. It's when I get terrible service and tip hardly anything, I'm being told that I'm not giving enough to support that server since they only make 2.13 or whatever an hour.

I understand.

I've never seen a tip jar at a fast food place but one thing I saw I didn't like was at a local craft beer store. You browse around, you pick out your beer and you take it to the counter to pay. They have an ipad kiosk thing you pay with and after you swipe your card it would ask you a tip amount. I knew the guy that worked there at the time pretty well, we always chatted and I even took him some of my beer every now and then but I didn't see the need to tip him. At most he answered a question or two. I've noticed they don't do this anymore, I guess they weren't getting any tips so they just did away with it.

I'd say chances are the got busted for it as non reported income. The IRS gets real pizzy when you fail to tell them all your income no matter how trival it is. Headache on the accounting side and payroll.

There's a small restaurant here where I live in Georgia that has a tip jar on the counter.

There's a difference in having a tip jar at a full service restaurant, no matter how small, and a burger king drive thru window. lulzzz

pj has convinced me... my dining experience wouldn't be less if we just gave our orders over iphones and tablets and let random people run the food out to us.

I'm right there with you on that tip jar

You jest, but at a lot of restaurants, I don't think he's far off.

Also while we are on the subject again. Wtf am I charged a delivery fee from dominoes (I hate dominoes but the kids prefer it) and also expected to tip the guy from bringing it. Does dominoes incur more costs from having some guy deliver it to me than me picking it up that isn't covered in a tip?

I've always assumed that the delivery people are paid for their gas, and that this is where the "delivery fee" is allocated

I went to a butcher shop and bought a beef tenderloin and when I checked was asked if I wanted to tip the butcher.
I've never been asked that before, I'm not in this butcher shop but once or twice a year but I frequently shop at local butcher shops and meat markets in Northwest Arkansas and haven't been asked that.

I would say it could be beneficial in that case if it was somewhere you go often, you'll likely get taken care of or hooked up.

I could see that, but seemed odd at the time
I was literally there about 3 minutes
Walked in asked for 2.5 lbs the kid sliced one from the counter in half and wrapped and I was done.

Oh and TP im hoping MSU wins today
I don't wanna face Geno if we don't have too 😄

My family is all wound up for that, myself and the boss lady are going up to Albany for the NCAA Hockey regional instead.

Plus watching the UConn women is like watching a gorilla beat up a midget.

I'm pretty sure that fee doesn't go to the drivers and that is mentioned on their website. I wonder if it helps fund liability insurance or something like that.

When I delivered for dominoes as a side job while in the military, I got 1 dollar for every delivery and the store got the other dollar.
