100% agree. No matter what, people are always going to focus on this. That being said, ending the war on drugs would dramatically reduce the number of interactions, and thus would dramatically reduce the number of bad interactions. It's just a no-brainer all the way around. It helps to solve so many problems, would be budget positive, and it's the type of policy* that's easiest for government to pull off in practice.

Ending the war on drugs isn’t gonna solve anything for already responsible law abiding citizens. Criminals and drug addicts, mostly one and the same, will still do what they do.
