Another bad apple (George Floyd case)

The businesses getting looted had nothing to do with the man's death. The people having their property destroyed had nothing to do with the man's death. Lawlessness isn't the way to protest against the police. What those police officers did to that man was 100% wrong, and they deserve to go to jail. I have no problem with a peaceful protest to push that message. But using it as an excuse to steal a new TV or whatever is false outrage. Hell, it just encourages police to beat more people up. So idiotic.

I have to ask, would kneeling during the national anthem as protest be peaceful to you? Would that be cool?

Also, burning and stealing stuff doesn’t encourage police to beat more people up. I don’t know if you are watching the coverage right now, but the police have completely ran away and left rioters to do their thing. The police want no part of this. It’s sad. Their action incited this, then they cut tail and run from business they are paid through our taxes to protect. Pitiful.

Yeah, you didn't read a word I said.

And let me say this one more time. The people that are rioting feel they have nothing to lose. The people in Michigan wanted to just show up and play pretend, but the Michigan govt called their bluff.

It is idiotic. They still don't care. You should be concerned about a significant portion of the population feeling this way.

To me, the chief difference is that the protests in Michigan were conducted with a modicum of civility. This, going on right now? It’s just animals being animals.

And which one was more heavily decried by the media?

The media is goig to media. You cannot change that.

Here is what you need to look at. The protesters in Michigan, although armed and in the halls of the statehouse, were indeed well behaved and civil. What did that get them? The governor actually doubled down instead of taking her foot off their necks. Now that should be concerning. because if govt does't fear armed protesters in the statehouse, then protesting peaceably has no effect either.

May as well just burn it all down and let the chips fall where they may.

Did riots in Feguson solve anything, how about Baltimore?

Yet, I know exactly what you are talking about with Ferguson and Baltimore, and have never heard about Dallas.

At the very least, it got the attention of the media and brought the issue to the forefront.

So, it did something.

Would be a lot better than destroying the city. My main problem with that is that the implication is simply not true. Black people are not disproportionately victims of police brutality in this country. The stats simply do not support that claim.

We don't play the group guilt game in this country. It irks me groups like BLM insist on it.

No because when myself and many others turn on sports we don't want to hear about politics. Watching the NFL on Sundays is to get away from politics. Just like watching Nascar is a way to get away from covid.

This is weird. Chauvin and Floyd likely knew each other. They both worked security at a local bar. Chauvin for 17 years. Bar owner said he was a loose cannon.
Don’t ever trust these “after incident” interviews from the media when a villain has been identified. If he was a loose cannon (and he may have been) why did the bar owner keep him on for 17 years.

He should have been removed from law enforcement years ago if all this is true...479ABC6D-0EB2-46B8-A71B-19CEBB2C9190.jpeg

And I’ve yet to see a video angle that shows Floyd resisting. He MAY have mouthed off but that certainly doesn’t justify getting roughed up, much less choked to death.

Yea the media really has never ran a story about the poor black man and his never ending struggle with police

Most of that paper is seems to be typical BS. And who cares who his attorney is?

So... what is the answer? If protesting nonviolently doesn't do anything and rioting doesn't do anything, then what is left?
From police side - Higher pay, better training , stricter officer hiring Procedures

From citizen side, more attendance of law enforcement citizen academies to understand police procedures and laws and to not commit crimes nor call over BS

Holy ****. I just watched the full 10 minute video. This officer is a complete and total POS. Anybody bringing up resisting or drugs or bad checks can honestly GTFO. There is no excuse for that. That officer deserves to be thrown under the jail. This is ridiculous.

Two bad apples gone

I think his sidekick should go to jail too.

I'm honestly not sure, but there needs to be some common ground reached. The stop snitching and protect brothers in blue cultures are both to blame. Common ground in humanity has to be found and built upon right?
