In order to get to their car, they would have to break through the police lines or building that were surrounding them. Don't you think it'd be foolish to do either of those things? All the cops had to do was tell them where to go. They were basically begging them in order to be compliant.
Is there any responsibility placed on the police chief (who is black) or the Mayor who appointed him (who is a Dem)? Is it possible that if residents of a city want to change the way things are they quit voting for the same people?
Yep..... what I believe happened.... cops told them to stay out of the area multiple times resulting in them being threatened to be arrested the next time it happened.... the cnn crew came back in the area with planned talking points.... waited till a certain point and started their talking points..... probably muting out what the cops are saying bc we don’t really hear much beside the reporter talking. This is what my cynical side suspects.
I agree with this. I think it very possible they were asked to leave prior but to arrest them was stupid. I can also understand the reasoning for police to want them or if specific areas. They likely want to keep routes open for quick deployment and fallback. News outfits with cameras attract protesters and create bottlenecks often times. Plenty of blame to spread around.Maybe so . . . but it's incredibly stupid to arrest a member of the media - live on the air - given the context of what is happening. The optics are horrible.
Cops may have been under orders to not make any statements on camera other than "under arrest".Yep..... what I believe happened.... cops told them to stay out of the area multiple times resulting in them being threatened to be arrested the next time it happened.... the cnn crew came back in the area with planned talking points.... waited till a certain point and started their talking points..... probably muting out what the cops are saying bc we don’t really hear much beside the reporter talking.
https://nypost.com/2020/05/29/amy-klobuchar-previously-declined-to-prosecute-cop/When has anyone come out and said they refuse to prosecute the officer that killed Floyd? WTF?
It was from a previous incident. Although I’ll defend Amy here because the officer was 100% in the right on that incident. He shot and killed a man who had stabbed several people and attempted to shoot him with a shotgunWhen has anyone come out and said they refuse to prosecute the officer that killed Floyd? WTF?

Either way it's a horrible look at the worst possible time PR wise for that department.

I admittedly don't know one way or the other. But I can't imagine something didn't lead up to this though. Still think it was stupid to do, achieved nothing and makes them look even more incompetent...."it very possible", "I believe", "Cops may have been"...
SMH - it's all on video and was taped live....anything else is conjecture and reaching for the narrative you want.
