Another bad apple (George Floyd case)

I'm sure they charged him with murder and fired him because he was innocent. On the other hand they change innocent people everyday that don't have any money expecting a plea deal.

The medical examiner report was completed about 24 hours ago, and they just now made the charges of third degree murder and manslaughter. I'm willing to bet there are other factors at play here. During the press conference yesterday when they said there is "other evidence they were looking at" or something was probably referring to this report.

That is JMO.

If you watch one of the videos it shows the officer walk up to Floyd's car talk with him for a second then immediately pull him out. They don't usually do that unless there is something they can see in plain sight. My theory is Floyd had a bunch of drugs in his lap and swallowed them to avoid being caught. To me when they walk him over and sit him down he seems high to me. Then the officers pinned him down because people on drugs are unpredictable. Then with all the events that unfolded Floyd's body went into overdrive and mixed with the drugs it gave out.
With all that being said I do think the charges are fair the officer was super negligent and didn't follow policy.
Lastly I think they picked the charges that would stick. If they charged him with first degree and the officer walked then things would get 10x worse
You see what you want to see. I see a man that was killed by the police for a minor offense. If they had left the man alone what would have happened?

I acknowledge that they tried to, on camera.
I’m not certain exactly what you mean there but the end of the video is where the in studio CNN reporter said he was told that the crew was asked to move and didn’t and that’s why they were arrested. I believe the reporter said one of the crew told him that’s what they were told. I assume you saw that part of the video. Do you believe the police lied then?

I'm betting the cop walks on the murder/manslaughter charges. Or they reach a plea with no jail time. Then the federals charge him with civil rights violations.

If I'm betting, my money is on this being the final outcome.

They are absolutely going to have to address the video. It shows a guy alive pleading for help in the beginning, then dead and rolled into an ambulance in the end. All the while a completely indifferent police officer has his knee on his neck with his hands in his pockets.

Honestly, I hope for the police officer's sake, he didn't actually kill him. I still think he is a POS for ignoring Floyd's pleas for help.

We'll see what happens with the independent autopsy and if any additional charges are brought.
The problem is the court of public opinion has already ruled so even if the independent report confirms the death was a heart attack it’ll still be blamed on the cop. That cop is screwed no matter what and, as you seemed to imply, used excessive force.

Yep, he will probably walk on the state charges but the feds will nail him.

Who knows. Maybe he is alive. Maybe he's a drug dealer and sells to kids. Maybe he kills someone. Maybe he lives a perfect life and is a great family man. We can what if this thing to death. You have your interpretation i have mine

nothing. He was already in cuffs and he probably would've been released on this minor forgery charge. It wasn't worth taking his life.

It's literally the first 60 seconds of the video. Listen to the reporter starting at the 30 second mark.

I believe the crew was told they were arrested because they didn't move. I certainly believe, based on the video, that the only people that believe that is what really happened is the police and it was to save face.

Pretty serious charge with some serious consequences. If people thought he was going to get capital murder or 1st degree murder charges then they're ignorant
It is the correct charge but won’t satisfy some bc it doesn’t come with as much jail time..... They would really be rioting if they charged them in first degree murder which would mean that he would probably be acquitted.

Perhaps. If you look at the wording for the murder charge that might be tricky but that charge description for the 2nd degree manslaughter (culpable negligence creating unreasonable risk) I could see that sticking. (based on what I know to this point)

Now that video started a little earlier than the other one I saw posted. If there literally was zero interaction with the police before what was shown then I agree it doesn’t look good and it’s possible the police are long to save face. There are still more questions though and I’m sure you know that 90% or more of problems come down to communication. I agree that this video you just posted doesn’t look good but, as you agreed earlier, CNN can’t always be trusted. What if before the video they were told not to be there and then the crew goes right where they were told not to go? I’m not saying that happened. I’m just saying we don’t know and you and I have both seen a lot of instance where the full story isn’t shown by a short video. That’s all. If all is as it appears in this video then I agree the cops in this video acted stupidly.

Colin Kaepernick Supports ‘Freedom Fighters’ in Minneapolis, Will Pay Legal Fees

Former NFL player Colin Kaepernick jumped to Twitter to offer to pay the legal fees of the “freedom fighters” rioting and burning down the city of Minneapolis in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

Kaepernick not only called the rioters “freedom fighters” and offered to pay their legal expenses if they get arrested while looting stores and burning down private property, but he also slipped in an advertisement to solicit donations to his Know Your Rights Camp.

I wonder what the outrage would be if somebody wore a Toby shirt.

I get it...I really do. But it seems the longer the clip is in the beginning or at the end, it paints a progressively worse picture of the officers and how they reacted. Combine that with statements released after the fact....the fact that the crew was released within an hour, and the public apologies of literally the entire chain of command...and it's about as clear as it can get as to what happened. And not for nothing, but you are like the third person I've had this debate with in this thread, and even some still think CNN staged the whole thing or instigated it. I've been called a liberal, dumb, etc....and I don't even like CNN! It makes no sense...but what happened here is about as clear as it gets and there really is no objective argument that can be made otherwise. The only arguments seem to be "what if" and "I bet this happened".

Yeap no matter what the results find and if that leads to a not guilty the rioters don’t care they will riot again
