Another commitment coming!

Jeez I can't stand phony b, but this is just pure stupid...come on.

Actually, it is a recruiting violation if he is, at all, trying to influence him to come to Tennessee. As a Tennessee fan, he is classified as a booster by the University and cannot have contact for the purpose of recruiting him.

If he is merely chatting with him and not trying to influence his decision, then he is fine.

That is why my response said possible. It is also why if you check the UT Compliance twitter account, you will see tweets asking fans to not contact recruits. It is difficult for the NCAA to police that type activity and that is Tennessee's method of showing that they take the rule seriously

I'm not condoning fans messaging recruits. I think it's generally a bad idea. But...

Can someone give a real world example of the NCAA handing out a recruiting violation for a fan interacting with a recruit on Twitter? How about an example of a school self-reporting a violation?

This happens hundreds/thousands of times a day and it's impossible to police. While it might be technically against NCAA guidelines, if there's no precedent for enforcement, then it really isn't a violation.

Lol, that's not a recruiting violation. If it was, his own parents couldn't ask him where he's going to school.

As I posted above, the rule isn't enforceable and was put in place before social media existed. However, relatives and those who have an established relationship with the recruit are exempt from the "rule."

Jatavious tweets a commit looming on Friday. Master Teague tweets decision coming soon. Jashaun Corbin decommits....

I don't think they are getting Teague. They've moved up the list but even the VQ mods who have been positive about their momentum with him have said they need to get him back onto campus before his decision to have a real shot of landing him. If he's making it Friday it's likely not going to be Tennessee.

Nope. Have to be a high dollar donor to be considered a booster

I'd day say either Litaker or Cam Jones. I've made friends with Cam Jones on twitter. He has actually been answering questions that I've been asking him. He loves UT but is committed to Indiana right now.

Looking for a de-commitment from him though & coming to UT but this might not be yet. Could be him but if not I'd have to go with Litaker or Brendon Harris. Greg Emerson is another possibility as well. Thanks.

You have issues. Follow these steps closely
Step 1 go to Twitter
Step 2 delete your twitter
Step 3 break whatever device you use to access twitter
Step 4 If you use more than one device to access Twitter repeat step 3

First of all, BRAVO!

Secondly, I would like to add this gif to accompany the gem you posted above.

Pretty sure you have to be a donor to be considered a booster. I could be wrong but I don't think I am.

Edit: suffice to say Balogna won't be confused with being a booster:)

You said "hi dollar." Any donation to the University makes you a booster, even a $100 donation for tickets.

The rules regarding contacting recruits go beyond being limited to only boosters, though, and include those who are simply fans also.

You are really reaching, actually proving someone is a booster is not as easy as all that. And the NCAA rarely acts unless it's got a lot of proof and still sometimes nothing happens. See Miami and many others. Name we one case were a non booster was ever labeled a booster and sanctions were put on university for the actions. The NCAA isn't going after every penny annie story and small time accusation, it doesn't have the resources to investigate half of the stuff it does now. GBO!!!!

I'm not reaching at all. Just going by the letter of the rules as written. If you've donated money to a university, you are a booster by definition. Fans are also lumped into the discussion on the issue of contacting recruits. Check any schools compliance page for confirmation.

And did you read my other posts above? Of course it's not enforceable. It would be impossible to police.
