Another round of expansion coming

Yeah I'm not a fan... 12 worked well. Who was left out that could have won a natty? They are going to make losing an early season game irrelevant.
agreed. conference championships have to mean something. also, the amount of time between start and finish of playoff is almost as long as last two months of season. stupid.

HELL NO- with the heat of a thousand suns NO.
Tennessee is BRAVES country. We don’t need any more baseball teams in the south.

No No No No No.
I’ve been a diehard Yankees fan since I could walk……and I’ll become a Nashville fan day 1.
Watched the Braves on TBS like everyone else did…..and loved rooting against them.

Did love Dale Murphy and Bob Horner though..😁

West Tennessee has been St Louis Cardinals territory for a very long time. That has not changed.

That would be awesome , but I don’t think CBS wants to do that, nor do I think the nfl would make any concessions. The NFL is basically the mafia at this point. They just take whatever they want and tell you to kick rocks . At some point college football has to start standing up to them. They’ve taken Thursday nights from college, they take Saturdays in December, they took Christmas and the beginning of the playoffs from the NBA, the CFP semis were played on a Wednesday and Thursday. It’s ridiculous.
Stand up to them by putting Army-Navy up against a Cleveland vs Jets MNF game and see which one gets more viewership.

Hard disagree on your last sentence. A chance to win the championship should darn well be earned in the regular season. Teams with more than two losses have not earned the right, as far as I am concerned. And two losses is borderline. Now, if you will excuse me I am going to tie an onion to my belt and yell at some clouds.
So what are you going to do when parity gets no SEC team. A record better than 9-3?

I've been making a similar comparison since all this started. NASCAR lost it's core fan base. College football seems determined to do the same.

The only thing that could potentially make this all interesting again is just a straight two power conference system where things are geographically aligned again.
Can we start by kicking Texas out?

Well, you cling to your principles all you want but I tend to look at it more pragmatically. The one thing you absolutely must do to win a championship is get there to compete for it. The first step to that is making the playoffs and I am for whatever gives us the best chance to be there. Once you're there, anything can happen! I'd rather see Tennessee make the playoffs and get eliminated than see them win 100 Duke Mayo bowls because of some BS "worthiness".
I strongly disagree...I would love to see someone dump mayonnaise on that ugly, bald head of Jeremy Pruitt!!

I’ll call off the hit squad since you threw that last sentence in there.

Does 16-team format mean 4 extra games after the conference title games? That's way too many. A 4-team playoff is plenty already.

8 or 16, no byes. But this years champion would have missed the whole deal at 8.

Starting with the sweet 16 is probably the money play. If not suck it up and listen to the whining starting at 9. Wait!!!! Weren’t we 9!!!

I thought Ohio State was #8? Either way, even if the champion or whoever were #9 and missed a 8-team playoff, well tough luck. Do better next time. If people are just expanding the playoff for the sake of not excluding the potential champion, how big the playoff needs to be? I just looked it up. The lowest seed to make / win NCAA men's basketball championship game was #8 seed, 4 times. That means the playoff needs to include at least 32 teams to eliminate that possibility. Anyway, I agree. This thing is probably not about including the eventual champion, reducing controversies etc. It's about money. As long there is money to be made to have more playoff games, the playoff will keep expanding.
