Showtime, Stan Lee Developing Gay Superhero Project
Source:The Hollywood Reporter
November 12, 2008

Showtime is developing an hourlong project from comic book icon Stan Lee that tracks the life of a gay superhero, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The project is being executive produced by Lee and the president and CEO of his Pow! Entertainment banner, Gill Champion.

The story, which focuses on an up-and-coming superhero who struggles to hide his secret identities, is based on the book "Hero" by Perry Moore.

Moore is writing the script and also executive producing along with Hunter Hill.

I guess thinking that an impressionable child could end up watching a show about a superhero is kind of a stretch.

pretty sure there is technology today that allows parents to block certain channels or programs.

besides, you don't watch a TV show and decide you want to be gay.

oh look, i win. again.

What? You mean I shouldn't freak out that a corporation is trying to make money out of a niche market?

so you're saying that a tv show cant influence someone as to what is or is not acceptable? No one ever said watching a tv show could make you gay. that's a choice.

if you let a TV show influence your child, they shouldn't be watching it in the first place or you're not paying attention to what they're watching.

and no, being gay is not a choice.

What's gay about a bunch of grown men roaming the streets at night in spandex, masks and capes? :whistling::birgits_giggle:

Any parent letting an impressionable child watch Showtime has no right to complain how their kid turns out.

All you people complaining, if you watch any number of shows that depict extremely violent acts, violence towards women, degradation of women, drug use, prostitution, etc. then do the world a favor and shut the hell up

What's interesting is that the whole mutant thing in X-Men is, at least on some level, a metaphor for discovering of sexuality. The mutants have a hard time being accepted, some of them wish they weren't mutants, they discover their powers in their early teens. That's not just coming from me either, Stan Lee said it himself. I don't hear people clamoring about that.

I respectfully disagree.

For the sake of conversation, is heterosexuality a choice?

Are you naturally attracted to women? Or, do you fight off an attraction to men, and decide that you'll pursue women instead?
