Anxiety mounting

Has anyone been this anxious before a game? I am 31 years old and have followed the Vols since the Peyton Manning days, watching games with my dad. I have been a faithful fan throughout my life and can’t recall being so excited/ anxious for a game. It’s getting hard to concentrate at work without checking what’s happening on ESPN or other media outlets talking about the Vols! Is anyone else feeling like this? GBO

I feel confident and prepared.

HD antenna was tested on the World Series games last night. Kickoff time has been double-checked. Kids basketball practice will end a good hour beforehand, and traffic will be light. There's a whole bag of wings in the freezer. My piriformis is acting up a little, but a good stretch beforehand should still let me use the recliner for a solid 4 quarters.

I’m utterly at peace about this game. I have supreme confidence in our offense putting unprecedented pressure on Georgia….a team that, by the numbers, has t played anyone like us. The progression of our defense is also comforting.

Adding to all that…we are playing with house money at this point. What on earth is there to be concerned about? Enjoy this ride. The process is where the fun is. Once you’ve made it to the top, you have to worry about staying there.

I’m not sure how I’m feeling. It’s strange. Just still trying to wrap my head around our current situation as the #1 team in the nation. It’s earned but kinda feel like an imposter. Probably just the residual BVS.

I wish I could enjoy this season more as it is actually happening but the more we keep winning, the greater anxiety I get about each game going forward. I was just a kid during the 1998 season, and I feel like I was able to enjoy it in the moment better. It feels like it has been so long since we have played such meaningful games this late into the season, that I’m just not used to it. Normally, at this point in a season, we are hoping to win enough games to get to a bowl game or to improve the bowl game that we do go to (such as hoping we get the Taxslayer Bowl over the Music City Bowl). With an actual national championship on the line, this is stressing me out.

Not nervous. Maybe a little just because of what we can win. However, like has been said, this is already a wildly successful season. Worst case scenario is 11-1 and a Sugar Bowl bid. Something we would have killed for before the season.

Why should you be anxious? This is yet another team we were supposed to be blown out by this season and I feel good about beating them on the road by a TD!

I was much more anxious about the Florida and Kentucky games because I knew we were supposed to win. I’ve seen UT choke so many games that they were supposed to win over the last 2 decades that it was giving me ulcers. This game, I’m pretty relaxed and just looking forward to it.

I’m anxious because I know if we lose this game we will not be taken serious. Attention spans are the size of a squirrels with the general public. The second we lose it’ll be because Tennessee ain’t ready to hang with the big dogs, and bama was having a down year, and we caught all these teams at the perfect time. I want to shut everybody up without a doubt. I want a win.

Take a deep breath. Exhale. Exhale some more. Think back 2 short months ago when you were happy for a 9 win season and be that guy. We're 8-0 and ranked #1.

Dude, my hope was just to beat Florida. I was thinking 9-3 or 8-4. I'm beyond ecstatic about the current situation and am just enjoying the ride. Not surprised we came out as #1 compared to the other unbeatens just by strength of schedule, but 11-1 (12-1, 13-1, 14-1, or 15-0) in year two is unbelievable. Call it icing or house money - no stress, we rolling.

Enjoy the ride!

I don't get the anxiety or nervousness..... We literally are in the best spot to be in terms of postseason.....

We are #1 ranked team in first playoff rankings. Our floor is now 11-1, meaning we have one real game left.

Say we lose, we are likely to stay inside the Top 5 outside of a blowout.

That means we have 3 weeks of winning going into Playoff selection with two teams ranked ahead of us (likely Michigan and Ohio State) having a head to head the last week of the regular season so one of them will fall below us.

I am very happy that we get to coast to a likely playoff spot. I will get anxious or hesitant if Bama or the SEC West champ starts showing out in Atlanta.

Not nervous at all. I feel like Tennessee has already over achieved and CJH's calm is infectious. Saturday is going to be a great game, win or lose.
