Just to stir the pot... Does anybody else see a direct correlation between frequency of 50 point games and our coaching staff? :whistling:

There's a direct correlation between 50 point games and crappy football teams on the other sideline.

I wouldn't categorize any team in the SEC as a supreme candidate to get 50 points hung on them. Even Mississippi State plays defense.

yep...AZ, AZ st, CAL, WSU and on and on and on the list goes....:)

Crappy teams that don't even play defense, at least the "crappy" SEC teams can say that. Kentucky held Florida to 26 points for cripes sake.

On a serious note, on the occassion there is a good offense in the SEC, 50 point games are a pretty frequent occurance. Spurrier's Florida teams did it quite a bit, as you can see we did when we had Cutcliffe... Any other instances of a team that had a good offense, you can see that putting points up was rarely, if ever, a problem. '04 Auburn didn't hit 50 against any SEC foe, but still managed 32ppg against the SEC.

I think we helped them out with that.

Well I don't think we can say that Memphis has played anyone that good really. Ole Miss is rebuilding and Brent Schaeffer stinks, Chattanooga isn't a powerhouse and they still play Memphis closer to 2 touchdowns than 4, and East Carolina is one of those spoiler teams that play alot of people close including West Virgina. Here's alittle known fact about Marshall....since 1996 they are the 4th winningest program in Div. 1A, so they are no slouch. Air Force runs 3 plays....maybe 4...so execution is easier for a one dimensional team. They reminded me alot of Nebraska of the 90s with the offense they ran and it was very disiplined. Guys our team can do this especially with the 3 receivers that have shown up this year and 2-3 that are flowering behind them. I say that we can put up a 50 spot by halfway thru the 4th quarter, but hey I like what's going on with our offense and Cutcliffe back in the day showed how dominate his schemes are against teams like Memphis who are not that good. Memphis has no DeAngelo Williams this year and will not make a 6 win season prolly, so the odds are in our favor to score 50.

like the post...but just one reminder...Memphis beat us in 96 with Cut as the OC and Peyton Manning as the QB.

Strange things happen. Not saying we'll lose or anything, but this talk about 50 pts, well, this is just one of those games your supposed to win. so just win it and move on to GA.

I doubt deangelo was holding UT under 50 the last few years.
