Check out the stats for Ut and Memphis. They are close but I think we will see close to the 600 yard tier Saturday.

i noticed that too. but you have to look at the level of competiton that both teams have played thus far, and that's the difference.

Memphis's numbers are pretty good, but it hasn't translated in to W's, and that's against ECU, Ole Mis and the like...

Yeah and that's exactly why I say 50 on Memphis. Because they are not that good and have not played against a Dominate D like ours that will give Ainge and our Offense a short field to work with.....

i woulnd't exactly call our D dominant. memphis has been prone to turning the ball over which obviously could be a huge benefit for us, but if our D doesn't get folks off the feild when they're supposed to more often, our offense wont' have many chances to put up anywhere near 50 pts. Air Force was case in point. it was obvious they couldn't stop us if we had the ball....so they just kept the darn thing most of the game.

Like i said, i think we'll beat Memphis like 34-17 or something...and it will likely be very pedestrian, and closer than the score indicates, like it was against Marshall. I expect us to work on the running game and get ourselves established with how we want to be up front on the O line. And we will make ourselves rely on our defense to get stops.

I don't see us hanging a half a hundred on 'em this weekend. Keep in mind, they fired their DC, and they have had two weeks to implement new wrinkles in to their D, none of which is on tape, so it will be little cat and mouse early on til we get any of those tendencies figured out....

Back to the topic at hand, we're not putting 50 on Memphis. If their D-line is completely awful (like worst in C-USA bad) then it would be within the realm of possibility, if we left the offense in for a longer period of time. Other than that, I doubt that we even could, much less will.

USP would destroy Hoover.

What you know about USP ? LOL ! University of South Panola High for those wondering.

This high school football team is a machine and will murder any high school in the entire state of Tennessee by no less than 3 touchdowns !

Tennessee may score 50 against Memphis in basketball this coming December.

Look here newcomer, Deangelo is gone and so are the bandwagon fans that Memphis thought they had. Memphis football sucks and Memphis basketball is good ,and that is that ! Be real with yourself, they can't stop anyone on offense. I will raise the stakes and say we will beat Memphis by 55

Can't wait to play you guys this year in B-Ball. I am glad that the two teams have decided to start playing again. I just hate playing you all in football because no matter how good/bad either team is you usually play us close.

Mr. Rocky Top, don't be so hateful. When UT is playing anyone but Memphis I pull for the Orange all the way. I am a Tennessean and always support you when you play other teams.

Some people on here get a little over sensitive on here. I think it is great to have fans of other teams on here to get different view points.

I am not hateful by far, but Memphis goes after second rate talent as far as recruiting. west is a good coach and I respect him but to let that defense decline like it has is pitiful. That was always the high point for Memphis and that is what they took pride in until a great 5'8 210 rb came by and joined the squad. Then they thought they were an offensive juggernaut.

Maybe Tennessee will score 50 points Saturday. Looks like it is going to be a 101 point game. :) Good luck Saturday. I am sure you will win your 20th out of 21 games.

Anyone think that we can pull off a 50 point game Saturday??

Memphis is ranked 18th in Passing Defense, not ranked in the Top 50 in Run Defense (Neither is Tennessee), and not ranked in the Top 50 in Total Defense (Neither is Tennessee).

So other than me, does anyone else think we can hit the 50 point plateau that hasn't been hit at UT in over 6 years??
I doubt it.When it comes to playing Memphis, I'm satisfied with a one point win.Actually, any win by any margin against anyone is about par for the course for UT this day and time.

The way we are playing against Memphis in the past 10 years. I would be happy winning by 1 and us not having to score at the very end to win the game.

Was Memphis a "good team" in 1997? In case you forgot, they handed our arse to us that day.....
In case you forgot, it was '96 and Memphis had a top 5 defense and Coach Fulmer decided to run the ball at the wrong times, although Peyton had over 300 yards passing. I wouldn't call a 4 point loss getting your arse handed to ya. Don't forget about the blown call on the kick return when the runner was down by contact, the kick defense players let up when they saw the runner go down and the refs missed it..

Yeah that year stunk with that game, but I think we have better players this year and that won't be the case this year when we whomp them for 52 points.

I think you guys predicting 50+ are crazy. I know Memphis is down somewhat this year but look back at the scores of this game recently.

Yeah and that's exactly why I say 50 on Memphis. Because they are not that good and have not played against a Dominate D like ours that will give Ainge and our Offense a short field to work with.....

Come back to reality.

At what point this year did our "Dominate D" showup? We look anything but dominating this season. At best we are a solid defense, not dominating.
