i noticed that too. but you have to look at the level of competiton that both teams have played thus far, and that's the difference.Check out the stats for Ut and Memphis. They are close but I think we will see close to the 600 yard tier Saturday.

Memphis's numbers are pretty good, but it hasn't translated in to W's, and that's against ECU, Ole Mis and the like...
i woulnd't exactly call our D dominant. memphis has been prone to turning the ball over which obviously could be a huge benefit for us, but if our D doesn't get folks off the feild when they're supposed to more often, our offense wont' have many chances to put up anywhere near 50 pts. Air Force was case in point. it was obvious they couldn't stop us if we had the ball....so they just kept the darn thing most of the game.Yeah and that's exactly why I say 50 on Memphis. Because they are not that good and have not played against a Dominate D like ours that will give Ainge and our Offense a short field to work with.....
Tennessee may score 50 against Memphis in basketball this coming December.
Can't wait to play you guys this year in B-Ball. I am glad that the two teams have decided to start playing again. I just hate playing you all in football because no matter how good/bad either team is you usually play us close.Tennessee may score 50 against Memphis in basketball this coming December.
Some people on here get a little over sensitive on here. I think it is great to have fans of other teams on here to get different view points.Mr. Rocky Top, don't be so hateful. When UT is playing anyone but Memphis I pull for the Orange all the way. I am a Tennessean and always support you when you play other teams.
I doubt it.When it comes to playing Memphis, I'm satisfied with a one point win.Actually, any win by any margin against anyone is about par for the course for UT this day and time.Anyone think that we can pull off a 50 point game Saturday??
Memphis is ranked 18th in Passing Defense, not ranked in the Top 50 in Run Defense (Neither is Tennessee), and not ranked in the Top 50 in Total Defense (Neither is Tennessee).
So other than me, does anyone else think we can hit the 50 point plateau that hasn't been hit at UT in over 6 years??
The way we are playing against Memphis in the past 10 years. I would be happy winning by 1 and us not having to score at the very end to win the game.I doubt it.When it comes to playing Memphis, I'm satisfied with a one point win.Actually, any win by any margin against anyone is about par for the course for UT this day and time.
In case you forgot, it was '96 and Memphis had a top 5 defense and Coach Fulmer decided to run the ball at the wrong times, although Peyton had over 300 yards passing. I wouldn't call a 4 point loss getting your arse handed to ya. Don't forget about the blown call on the kick return when the runner was down by contact, the kick defense players let up when they saw the runner go down and the refs missed it.. :blink:Was Memphis a "good team" in 1997? In case you forgot, they handed our arse to us that day.....
