Any updates on Chris Jones?

It doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility that Cuonzo and Co. reconnect with Jones in the same way they reached out to Stokes and bring Jones to the school he wanted to attend and play for all along before he didn't qualify. Before Stokes I would have said, "no way".

This is exactly what signing Stokes has done for this program and staff; His signing has made the most improbable seem possible...

Unless Jones can get in for 2012, I can't imagine him being on Tennessee. JMO.

What happened to this recruit? Did they send him to prep school, is there a chance he still comes to UT?

Check out Shay or Forbes' twitter. They'll talk about him on there.

I believe they're the top ranked juco team in the country.

Shay and Forbes will be coaching at a major program again as soon as their 1 year in NCAA jail is up. I'm betting Jones will follow one of them.

Forbes is going to get a nice paycheck next year. It would be nice to land Jones but not likely at all.

Completely agree jones is very likely to follow Forbes to wherever he goes, should be interesting. Lots of people trying to push to get jones back here I just dot see it. 1. The fact he is probably following Forbes and obviously Forbes is not coming back here and 2. I seriously just don't think he is the kid of guy that ccm wants here. Also, you then in a year would have golden, washpun, jones and landry all on scholarship that's too many scholarships for pg's.

To answer your question, I believe we have moved on from Chris Jones unless three things happen:

1) CCM decides "I have to get a PG for 2012".

2) Chris Jones completely has changed his game.

3) We free two scholarships for next year.

maybe this is what you meant by 2) but do you see ccm taking him on in less he has also changed his attitude and as a person? i know those were always thought to be some issues and i dont know how being with forbes helped/hurt that.

also...if you see this happening do you see washpun here? golden, wes, jones, landry(the following year), and stanton that is alot of pg that are wanting playing time. i assume golden goes to the 2 if jones were to come here though?

I don't think Jones' attitude was the problem.

His game just doesn't mesh with Martin's style. The only reason Trae is playing out of necessity. He is not a CCM point guard. It's like Denard Robinson at Michigan. He is not a Brady Hoke QB, but he's the best they got.

And no, if we take Chris Jones (who would have to come after this year, because Landry is on the way, so I don't know how feasible that is), I can't imagine Washpun being here unless they move Golden to 2, which isn't entirely impossible, but unlikely.

i thought there was attitude problems with him, alot like joe jackson, some of the things he said after pearl left and then before martin got to him i remember being a little odd. with all that said though hypothetically if he has straightened out and comes here...

you have to move golden to the 2. i think if you are recruiting jones you are telling him he is coming in and getting alot of minutes with his talent he is not going somewhere for 8 minutes a games. also, with golden moving to the 2 we are utilizing our strengths and putting our best players out there. next year our weakness is going to be our wings once again, we lose tatum and gain a guy we dont know anything about in edwards. so we have mcbee, mcrae, richardson (2 of those 3 the fanbase is not happy with) and then edwards. if we can move golden to the 2 i feel we are a much better team, chris jones is an absolute monster that is one thing that cant be questioned.

well that puts an end to that one. that would explain why we havent heard anything at all about his recruitment or schools hes looking at.

Yup.

I'm curious to see what CCM decides if another scholarship opens up. Does he go after a JUCO PG, take on a scoring wing, or get a true center (since we don't have one)?

Or does he leave it open for 2013?

I wish we would go after a true center just one time. We don't need a guy who is necessarily a good low post scorer, but we do need a huge body near the rim who can block shots and force people to change their shots. Our defense would be just sick with someone like that down low.

i think it all depends on who we can get...

1. i would say that if there is a stud juco pg then he may look at that route. someone that is better than golden so that golden can play the 2, and makes our team better.

2. if no option 1...then going after a stud wing that can come in and make an immediate impact. start at the sf position vacated by tatum, dont stretch for a player though only a guy who is good enough to come in and start.

3. we are pretty loaded with maymon, stokes, and the emergence of hall down low. all our post minutes are pretty much occupied so i dont see the reason to bring in a C unless it is just someone that you can pass up on.

personally, i say you take a quick look out there at what is available at the juco(zjc any idea who is out there for juco players) and if you can find an impact pg or wing you go for it, if not then save it.

With a limited number of scholarships for 2013 left, I would just take the best available player possible
