I don't underestimate CA talent, Cal just happens to recruit it poorly. You can keep getting away with doing that and winning, because USC is the only school in the PAC 10 that recruits it well.
how about at least equally educated, so you can't use that as a chip in further debate. you simply have to talk about the pathetic athletic programs that Cal has. Athletics are clearly the focus of this board and you threw academics into the debate. I might have too if I were having to defend Cal, but I'd rather limit the discussion to where it belongs on a board like this.just guessing by the fact that you are posting here the way you do, you believe Cal actually has a competitive college football program and you likely went to Cal.
the gap from the top players to the next in any state is tremendous. That's why they keep beating you.not according to virtually every national recruiting service. tedford has 5 straight top 20 recruiting classes and is consistantly #2 in the pac-10. where do you think all this california talent goes? SC only has like 20 slots every year. our roster is filled with players SC wanted. they are getting more than we are, but the gap isn't as great as you seem to think it is.
check out our 2007 recruiting video: http://cybvideo.com/ttf/formal.wmv
great. keep playing second fiddle and you'll continue to play second fiddle. BTW, when other schools nationally are getting the top recruits in many other states, they're better than your second fiddle guys.not in california. it's a big state. there are a lot of good players.

but did you watch the video that droski posted?I looked it up, Cal has had some decent recruiting classes, consistently #2 in the Pac10, but still middle of the pack if they were an SEC team. According to Rivals:
2007 #22 nationally, would have been #8 in the SEC
2006 #19 nationally, would have been #7 in the SEC
2005 #9 nationally, would have been #2 in the SEC (second only to Tennessee)
2004 #23 nationally, would have been #8 in the SEC
2003 #14 nationally, would have been #6 in the SEC
By the way, congratulations. You successfully outrecruited 4 SEC teams this year. Very impressive.According to scout:
2005: Cal #9 avg star 3.58 Tenn #1 3.63
2006: Cal #23 avg star 3.25 Tenn #24 3.21
2007: Cal #12 avg star 3.44 Ten #4 3.63
I don't see a HUGE gap here do you? You'd think that mighty tenn would be at least a full star rating higher than such a lousy program as cal wouldn't you?
edit: i'd hope this puts to rest the notion that our depth stinks compared to tenn
That means your talent would be smack in the middle of the conference. The fact you think that's not horrible tells me all I need to know about your program. Of course, playing in Pac 10, mid level SEC talent will probably allow you to finish second.this is the best recruiting class the SEC has ever had. this year according to scout we'd rank #6. not exactly horrible.
