Any Vols Coming out to California for the Cal Game?

I am looking forward to playing Cal once again this season, for the Troll that stated UT has a pathetic bowl history, I am currently Lmao at you!

Tennessee is one of the Top 5 teams in Bowl History & Cal is where?

Tennessee should be basically loaded next year, Cal should be good too, but this should be a good warmup before we come back to Cali for the UCLA game in 08'.

UCLA will stink in 08 and their coach sucks, that should be a nice blowout for you guys.

agreed that is about as stupid as a statement as I've heard.

But to say there are 30 programs better? Thats idiotic.
Exactly. If you take a historical view, the proper way to judge a program as opposed to an individual season, there are about 60 that far outstrip the accomplishments of the Golden Bears.

Actually Cal has better history than you may think, I hate taking up for another team, but they are probably in the Top 30 Programs of All-Time.

All-Time Rankings

They are #30 on there, as we are #9 though.

Until 1960 Cal was one of the best teams in the county year in and year out. We won 3 national championships. From 1960-1990 we were horrible I agree. But we are hardly without any tradition.

Anyway I think the current state of the program is all that matters to the fans.

Princeton (NJ) #13 according to this. would you rank princeton in front of cal currently?

Buy if we beat you that means you stink remember. I'll make sure to remind you of that come sept 3rd. It would be pretty embarising to lose to a team that couldn't win the conference usa.

Did I say UT will beat Cal on Sept. 3rd? I assume you would be back. Yes, if we lost, we suck, but if you lost, we don't have to say same thing to you, because it's been said so many times.

Hi, and Go Bears! I'm working on a "welcome the Vols" shirt, and would appreciate your feedback. I've narrowed it down to 2 designs. The first says "This ain't Rocky Top," and has a picture of the banjo guy from Deliverance wearing a Vols shirt, with an "x" through it. The second shirt says, in large letters, ‘‘You can’t spell Citrus without UT", with "Steve Spurrier" below it. It then lists the many times UT has been relegated to the Tier 3 Citrus Bowl. What do you guys think?

I hate both T-shirts and wouldn't wear either one. Obviously you are not a Tennessee fan.

On a side note the banjo playing retard from deliverence is now a surgeon. That is a true story.

Not...

Billy Redden - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Redden also appeared in Tim Burton's 2003 film Big Fish. Burton was intent on getting Redden, who hadn't appeared in a film since Deliverance, to play the role of a banjo-playing welcomer in the utopian town of Spectre. Burton eventually found him in Clayton, Georgia, where Redden works as a cook and dishwasher at the Cookie Jar Café.

You're mistaken. It was on NBC. And if the Cal game is close, that doesn't mean we will lose all of the games listed by tvolsfan. They have something to prove after being embarrassed on national TV. Remember when UGA beat us 41-14 and the next year were so confident because we had a frosh QB. How did that turn out for them?

Ok, it won't be a guarantee of a loss, but all those teams I listed are better than Cal. If we don't beat Cal, we are in trouble.

If any of you do make the trip to California, here's some advice. Don't stay at any hotels in Oakland or Berkeley. Stay in SF and take BART (subway) to the game. The subway drops you off in downtown Berkeley and it's about 3/4 of a mile to the stadium, so older folks may not want to do this. Oakland is dangerous and the town of Berkeley is kind of a pit. If you stay in SF, beware. Do not stay anywhere near City hall, unless you enjoy heroin and being mugged. !

it must have been quite a culture shock when you came to Knoxville. A relatively clean city, fairly low crime, our urban outdoorsmen confined to a small green park in the middle of downtown far away from the stadium and hotels.

But seriously, I've been thinking about going out there for the game. But while I'm at it, I want to go to Yosemite and/or Sequoia National for a few days (either before the game or afterwards).

Just need some ideas on how to do all of this in a week.

I can't get that worried about Cal... they lost their biggest impact players from last year - Lynch, Mixson & Mebane.

...and while I'm still on the fence about Fulmer, I'm quietly optmistic that he's going to field a pretty tough, disciplined and focused team next year. Maybe not the class of the SEC, but certainly tough enough to march out to Cal and dismantle that chronicly overrated program.

Who knows, we could get surprised, but I like our odds.

I know he didn't play against us - but he was a big impact player for them for 2006. My point is that they are losing most of the studs from their 2005 squad.

They have Deshaun Jackson, who managed to accomplish zero against us last year. Still, he's a guy that people list as the best punt returner and a dark horse candidate for the Heisman. These people aren't intelligent, but still, he's being listed.

He accomplished a tiny bit more than zero against us.

The question is whether they have good talent to plug into the holes.

My biggest worry is that we arrive overconfident because of last year's result.
