Any Vols Coming out to California for the Cal Game?

Bottom line is at the beginning the of the season these teams should be pretty even. It will be a good game in which CAL will be much more guarded with their signals.

CalBears,

Seriously what are you trying to prove. We beat Cal's ass. You have no room to talk until you beat us. The SEC is better than the Pac-10. There is absolutley no doubt about that at all.

What are you trying to prove or persuade us into thinking?

UGA finished better than us after we beat them by 18 in Athens. Arkansas finished worse than you even though they were in the SEC championship game. Notre Dame finished worse than you and were in a BCS bowl. Wake finished worse than you and they lost in a BCS bowl.
These rankings are obviously flawed.

So the entire associated press is flawed? One of the most respected organizations in the world is flawed? Fair enough, here you go…

He's doing ok. No worries here.

Out west: SEC sucks. Man they think they are all that and ESPN kisses their asses.

Southeast: Big10 and Pac10 sucks. Man they think they are all that and ESPN kisses their asses.

I agree, the argument is pretty weak. Still, the author makes an interesting point about the Cal v Tenn game. You guys better hope you win…

Why would you choose such a poorly written article to attempt to make any point? That article only reinforces our opinion that people in California have no clue what they are talking about when it comes to football. Not to mention, the numerous spelling and grammatical errors somewhat undermine your claims of intellectual superiority that you resort to when we mock your beloved Bears. The guy couldn't even get through the first sentence without making an error. I think the only outrage you'll find here is based upon that rubbish being an affront to real journalists across the country, intelligent thought and the English language.

I am just trying to offer you alternative views. I realize your thinking is set in stone, but must mine be also? I know the thought of being beat by Cal terrifies you. I also know you feel you will win. Just for a minute though, I want you to imagine what it would be like to lose to us. I am not asking you to respond to me, I just want you to open up your mind, and let in the possibility of defeat. If we beat you and you fail to do this, the consequences could be severe to you mental health and team pride.

I agree that article was horrible. and the stealing signals thing had NOTHING to do with the outcome of that game. Horrrible stuff. Completely inaccurate. YOu can do better Calbears.

Why would ANYONE, including YOUR FANS, let the possibility of defeat into mind? No fan should ever do that. I'd rather your fans predict a win than do that. It's weak.

Nothing is set in stone. We thought we would lose last year and were pleasantly surprised when we dominated. Think most here don't think the CAL game is a lock. It will be a hard fought game. At least from my point of view.

Why post it if you think it is weak? That is the dumbest thing I have seen. Cal kept respectable? Our 2nd team was in at the start of the 3rd quarter.

USC beat Arkansas when McFadden (their best player) was recovering from surgery.

Texas A&M runs a high school offense.

Let's see, 3 SEC teams have won BCS championships. How many PAC -10 teams have won BCS championships? The only team that is worth a damn in that joke of a conference.

Please support your arguements with facts. Cal was ranked higher than UT. Who did Cal play ranked in the top 25 at the end of the season?

UT played 6 of those teams in the top 25 going 2 - 4 in those games.

Cal played 2 of those teams going 0 - 2 in those games.

There you go. That hard PAC - 10 schedule paid dividends in the final season rankings

You don't want us to respond? Is that why you badgered for a response about 3 pages back to the same question.

Anyway, I must leave now. I have to go on lunch, but I will be back in about a half hour or so. When I come back I really hope we can discuss what we talked about in here today. Mainly, accepting that you may not win against us this year. That is all I ask, that you open yourself up to the possibility of defeat. :hi:

That's what you don't understand, there is no thought of us losing. That's the difference in SEC football and PAC10 football. The left coast mindset of "It's ok to lose you're still a winner in my book" doesn't fly in the South.

Still waiting on a link to that article. My google skills are usually very good but I've come up empty.:eek:hmy:

If Tennessee beats Cal in September, what will some Bears fans say then? Droski and CalBears are pretty open minded when it comes to Cal fans (at least that I've spoken to). What other excuses can there be?

So far, we've stolen signals, picked on a freshman corner with a cast, had a 35 point HFA, etc etc.

Everything together, UT was far better head to head against Cal in 2006. If SQT couldn't play well, then CJT should have benched him!

A lot of Cal fans also stand firm in their beliefs that Cal's coaching staff is better than Tennessee's. That's the one point where I will not budge.

Speak for yourself on the "Thought we would lose to Cal". They were what .500 in the Pac-10 the previous year and whipped Portland State I thought they were hyped too much. Much like Tennessee in 2005.

Please don't do that. You sound JUST like a Cal fan - "It was Longshore's first start, Thompson had a cast." If they can't have excuses, neither can anyone else.

I agree. Cal was overhyped and coming all the way across the country for their opener without a proven QB. It really wasn't that shocking that we beat the crap out of them.

CalBears,

If you keep up that "Just open your mind hippie speak" it will not fly anywhere in here. So don't expect to many offers on your new spiritual way of thinking of football.

I don't see game vs CAL the same as UT vs Vandy. CAL will come to play. We have good chance to win I think but I would not say a win vs CAL is guaranteed. Are you?

One reason I'm really confident in our chances in 2007 is because Erik Ainge has played extremely well on the road in 2004 and 2006, especially big ballgames.

No win is guaranteed. Not one single win. However, knowing what I know about our roster, which is a lot, and knowing what I know about their roster, which is enough, I think UT will win by a 7-14 points.

once again the stolen signals thing is stupid. i've never bought that.

As for your question, it depends on the game. If tenn beats cal again convincingly I will have no choice but to admit cal is constantly overrated. I would have said the same thing if we had lost to A&M. If it's a close game and tenn pulls it out, I'm not sure that lends itself to a "cal is always overrated" argument.

I agree. I doubt it will be anywhere near as easy as 2006, but I laugh a little when I hear somebody play the "hostile environment" card as a big benefit for Cal. Sure it's an advantage, but it's not exactly The Swamp or Death Valley.
