Anybody else watching The U?

its weird nowadays to think people legitimatley feared Lou Holtz.

Also to think of the coaches at that time and their records. you have Tom Osbourne, Barry Switzer, Bowden, Joe Pa, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, and Jimmie.
Woody Hayes was done back in the 70s, but your point still stands.

Just watched it after recording it last night. A few comments:

- In retrospect those teams were just good fun. None of their "brashness" should have been taken seriously. Just good entertainment.
- Interesting that the team they felt was their best couldn't win two huge bowl games (UT and Penn State). Remember at the time the Sugar Bowl kicked off they felt a win against UT would mean another #1 final ranking.
- The show only gives the perspective from past team participants view. Would love to have heard from Bozworth, Faust, Switzer, etc to get their perspective now of those UM teams.
- Reminders of Tom Mees early death always bothers me for some reason
- The early departure of Schnellenberger was somewhat strange; I never knew that was the reason
- Turner Gill didn't make a very good pass. Threw it behind the receiver. If he puts it between the numbers or on the left shoulder, Nebraska wins.
- Including Drew Rosenhaus in the documentary was of no value - wonder how muscled his way in for that piece of attention.

HE is a UM alum and was there during this

Miami should have had 7 nat titles from 83 to 02 not 5. The bad nd call and the 2002 pass int call. The 2002 call still pisses me off.

Sorry, link contained inappropiate material I didn't notice until I posted it.

Why are you posting, they called out Florida
when they talked about Florida taking them off the schedule

Did anyone else watch this? I'm a little to young to remember most of those Miami teams but I never could figure out why we where such underdogs in the 85 Sugar Bowl. Well appareatly Miami pretty much rolled everyone in the 80's. That must have been such a monster win for us at the time.

so much talent on those teams, I wonder how many players were drafted from that era?

i loved it, i grew up in the 80 and hating miami.
but after watching that i kind of have a new found respect for the program. I also liked the jab they took at UF.
Very well done by espn.

I also thought some of Schellenbur3zg332er (sp?)/ jimmy johnson tactics at the time are similar to CLk and staff.

There really is no defending it.

Miami owned us in the 80s and we took them off the schedule and promptly added Montana State...it was shameful.

Got around to watching it last night finally from the showing on ESPN2. Damn bullriding cut into the first bit of it so I missed the ending 15 minutes or so.

Great documentary. Loved seeing that period of building and dominance from an insider perspective.
