Anybody just lost interest in todays College football

Here's a thought do you guys think in a couple more years teams with less talent but with more team chemistry and played together as a team longer will they be able to compete with the these with more talent but rotate players every year? Kinda like college basketball?
The problem I see with this is that smaller programs will take the time, expense and effort to develop a player then when the player is ready to contribute they will transfer to a program that can pay them more.

I've learned not to get too excited when a big-time 4 or 5 star commits, or when that player actually signs, or when that player stays 2 or 3 years. They can be gone at any time. School loyalty no longer exists. I'm guessing about 90% of any team's roster would be gone in 60 seconds for a better deal, or situation where they can get a better deal the next year. Honestly, I can't say that I blame them. Players were exploited for many years. Now, the players have become the exploiters. We've said for many years that College football is basically a business. Now, it's official. Like any card game, just shuffle the deck after each season. Hope you get a good hand to play with.

Lol.

WE MADE THE PLAYOFFS.

And if you think the remaining teams are slowing down funds...well they're not.

Not a matter of success or failure man.

Just a matter of what I can personally justify or get on board with-and things are at that limit if they have not crossed already.

Just being honest about the whole situation

It's not the game I once loved-and that's fine. Change is inevitable. The question will be if there are still enough redeeming qualities to still make it even worthwhile and that I do not know the answer to.

I don’t know but right now I feel like I’m in a funk with college football. High expectations for the Vols and it was a good season on paper, but man was that a hard team to watch at times. The refs seemed to be worse than ever. Then to have our butts best by OSU. Then to see so many players tap give your all for Tennessee, then to jump ship at season’s end. Especially Squirrel. He played a lot and from my perspective got every chance to shine where other players might not have, only to hit the portal. Squirrel, that one got me. The NCAA on our butt — thankfully the Vols office fought back. Like I said, maybe things will work out before this September, but there’s just so many things going on that just puts a damper on the game.

Love the Big Orange and I still watch but I don’t get as wound up about it as I did 30 years ago. Maybe that just comes with getting older. It’s gotten progressively worse in the last year or so with all the 💩 that’s happened.
Yep, I used to get real wound up, about threw a TV out in the front yard a time or two lol Now I might get disgusted and throw my hat or say a curse word or too . It just ain’t as big of a deal.

Yeah, they were definitely hard to watch at times. It was very frustrating.

It's troubling for me as a fan to watch players come on board in the spring, follow them thru the orange/white scrimmage, watch them play 12 games in the regular season and then see them just leave even before a bowl game. It reeks every way you look at it.

I agree 100%. I used to keep up with recruiting, but I could care less now it’s a revolving door and until we snap the ball in September, I couldn’t tell you who’s gonna be on the team.

Yep, it sucks tbh. That’s not the college football. I grew up watching in the 90s.

I feel like with NIL and all the changes i find myself just not having as much interest in it. Depressing honestly. I personally think all college sports are ruined going forward. I’ll still watch the Vols but it’s just meh at this point. There’s no team loyalty, it’s just about money now.
I was just discussing this today with a fellow Vol here in Atlanta. I quit the NFL years ago when the WOKE started. NIL is / has killed college. My "give a schiiittt" meter is sitting about 25% right now. A few years back it pegged 100%. Very sad.

Yeah, the woke crap with the NFL. I haven’t hardly watched a pro game since, that’s how I’m starting to feel about college football. It’s really sad to be honest.

I still love the games but there really is no reason to get attached to players as in the past which is one of the reasons I enjoyed CFB more than the NFL.

Now it really is just about the T on the helmet.

Definitely like the nfl more. You know the players are gonna be there for the length of a contract. The games are 3 hours (unless there's overtime). Replays are fewer and faster. The overtime is better. College games are 4 -4.5 hours long with fake injuries and way too many replays. Plus, rather it was true or not, you thought the kids felt the same way about the school/team as you did. Now, they're just rent a player there from year to year based on the money with no allegiance to your team. Just not like it used to be.

I’m definitely getting there. If they don’t do something about these damn transfers and allowing kids to up and leave their damn teams in the playoffs , allowing kids to transfer every damn year. I’m over it

Yes, I lost interest when the final 4 teams were 2 big 10 teams, ND and the fake UT. No interest in college football anymore after that happened!!!!

Yeah, that’s the biggest gripe I have right now is these transfers. If they’re gonna give these kids money, I think they need to commit to a minimum of two years at one school. This is just a revolving door now and it’s just stupid.

Yeah... It does feel like the heart and soul of college football is slowly fading away....

Honestly it's why I love European soccer so much. The fans have done a fantastic job keeping the soul of the game there to the point the entire continent rioted when they tried to form a "Super League". Unfortunately with our culture being heavily influenced by capitalism it was probably an eventuality that College Football would become a soulless business...
Maybe we can return the favor to @London Vol and join him for a “foreign football” match in the Uk. What is the team out there with Orange uniforms again?

I lost interest when we got out butts kicked by a hated team and were forced to like it. But, honestly this has been one of the most interesting seasons in decades IMO. Keep the playoff to no more than 12 and it basically keeps only 2 loss or better teams in. Any bigger and I'm afraid a some teams will be sandbagging at years end. Any smaller (I might go 8 teams) and a possible winner may not get a chance.
This playoff kept the passion high for a lot of the season. The SEC had no utterly dominant team like UGA, UA, AU, & LSU have all done in the playoffs era. It was just a slugfest of 8 games for everyone.

Maybe the fact that we were one of 6 SEC contenders for the CFP kept me more engaged. Not sure. But, overall I found it to be better than in the past.

I think education is out the window now except for a few that realize the worth of having a diploma with a real degree... not liberal tangerine art degree, etc. "Yeah Jim, he's studying liberal tangerine art." - He'll go far in life with that degree Matt!"
Education IS out the window. They could care less for the most part.

It is all about the money, and there are some factions of society that have been looking forward to the implosion of the game. I’ll hang in there until the lawyers and unions take over, which is coming. It is truly saddening to see this disaster live and in person

Unless they can get some reasonable guardrails up wrt transfers and contracts that benefit both the school and the athlete, I'm not sure I'm long for this particular college football world. I have loved college football since I was about five or six years old. The lack of proactive action by the NCAA instead of it's heavy handed approach and lack of willingness to adapt to what many saw coming has only exacerbated matters, created a vacuum. That thing is sucking the life out of college football as we know it at warp speed. I want to still enjoy it. I guess it just depends on what the final product looks like. I have no problem with players making money on their own name, image and likeness, but the collectives have shoved it well beyond that.
