When NASCAR changed their rules to where a customer could not go and save up and purchase one of the 500 models manufacturers were required to make to race their circuit that was the final straw for me. Yes that's how people owned superbirds, hemi chargers, 427 Mercury Cyclones, etc etc door cars that were not that far away from what was on the track. Then don't get me started when they had more races outside the South than what was in the South and eff 'em. Basically these days they're just USAC cars with skins close to appearing like everyday autos. The changes they've made to CFB over the past few years actually remind me of all the stuff they did to NASCAR in the 00's.
NASCAR got rid of all its history in order to chase $$$$ from bigger markets. Worked for a few years, but over the long-run, it hurt the sport immensely. Now, it lacks the tradition it once had and everything is bland. Ratings fell, and eventually, they started making less money.
Same i don’t want to hear about the Ohio state buckeyes the sec is down this year but willI wasn't interested then I was watching the news and saw that Notre Dame won. I didn't even realize when the games were because I had lost interest. Then I got interested in wanting to see Texas stop the Ohio State love feast. That is saying a lot for me because I despise Texas. I dislike Ohio State more.

The 447 comments in the Cotton Bowl thread, before halftime, say a resounding NO!I feel like with NIL and all the changes i find myself just not having as much interest in it. Depressing honestly. I personally think all college sports are ruined going forward. I’ll still watch the Vols but it’s just meh at this point. There’s no team loyalty, it’s just about money now.
Feels like teams will be built out of the portal based on 1 or 2 year plans. Why waste energy on recruiting a high school kid who will require body and skill development. Let someone else do that and just hit the portal with a big satchel. That is why you cheer for the helmet and not the name on the jersey. If you are gonna buy a jersey, buy one of a senior who has been around a few years.
It might feel like that but facts are more players stay with teams that leave. But when you factor in every team it seems like a lot more. But teams are still built on recruiting relying solely on the portal would not be a very good strategy. Pull for the team and the university. Schools have plenty of fans, college football is as popular as ever. I think the portal will work itself out as well as the market. I think much of this NIL and portal stuff will level out in time and is being exaggerated by fans, yes some things may need adjusting but it will get worked out.Feels like teams will be built out of the portal based on 1 or 2 year plans. I’m not a fan of this model.
I'll start by saying I don't like where we are either. Having said that, the "team loyalty" was always an illusion and a lie, built on paying players and running an illegal monopoly explicitly designed to exploit the players solely for the benefit of the NCAA and supposed institutions of higher learning. No reasonable person could expect there to be no fallout or repercussions from the downfall of an egregious criminal enterprise allowed to operate for many decades.I feel like with NIL and all the changes i find myself just not having as much interest in it. I raised can about the rule, at least now the can review and overturn the ones that aren’t targeting.Still care about the Vols. But to Hell with the rest of it.
And the "most fans views" part? Those are the jerks that let em get away with starting the targeting rule. Had the interest dropped? That rule would have gone away too.
Because it’s been said to me by every poster on here, and I finally found the poster and the post to execute it on….I feel like with NIL and all the changes i find myself just not having as much interest in it. Depressing honestly. I personally think all college sports are ruined going forward. I’ll still watch the Vols but it’s just meh at this point. There’s no team loyalty, it’s just about money now.
There is no rule against it that will survive 5 minutes in federal court. One thing definitely needs to happen :
The recruitment of players on other rosters, during the course of the season through "back-channel" representatives before they have entered the transfer portal, must be policed and a stop put to it. Miami is doing this with a vengeance. It's worse than the Wild Wild West. It's the Wild Wild West meets Game of Thrones.
