Anyone else believe in Butch but not the Assistants?

I feel that our assistants are underprepared for the roles that they have been thrown in for the most part. I feel like butch is the man, but I feel it may difficult for him to cut ties with some of them when it comes down to it.. I feel like we may need to make a change at DC and maybe even OC when the year is over. I expect that no one will be fired at the end of this year, but another mediocre year, and things will have to change... Will Butch fight for his assistant coaches? Or is he all in at doing what it takes to save his friends from losing their jobs?

It just seems to me that butch is very very loyal as he kept most of his coaches from his old staff.

Maybe we will overachieve next year and the OC & DC will get head coaching offers at some smaller school and leave. This will prevent a painful firing from happening to them.

The entire staff is safe this year. I agree that we can't really judge the quality of the staff based on this year alone. However, if we lay an egg against Vandy and Kentucky, many of you that are calling out the OP will then be calling for some coaches heads on a platter.

There is not enough information at this time to make a judgement. Only time will tell. I believe CBJ is loyal; therefore, I believe he won't make a change until the end of his 3rd year. If that's the case it will probably be because he can't seem to get to the top four teams in the SEC with his current assistants or he is doing it to try to save his job. Let's hope if it comes to that, it'll be the first scenario.

Too soon to know anything for certain, which is exactly why you allow someone the opportunity to actually fix things once you hire them to do so, but I like what I see from this staff so far.

When you lose you will always have clueless fans start barking to fire coaches because they know nothing else. Butch will do whatever it takes to win even if he had to fire his mother. He obviously believes in this staff because they fit his requirements--good teachers and salesmen, at least in his mind.

Jancek's defense has not impressed me, poor tackling, poor angles, out of position etc. We will see what he can do when the talent improves a bit though.

But that being said, I like the staff because of their recruiting. I really couldn't be happier with the recruiting class they have put together.

If you believe in Butch, you believe in his assistants. Simple as that, I don't think the man would let his coaching career and legacy go south because of a assistant(s). If and when Butch doesn’t believe in them he will make the call.

So the answer to your question is no. Can't have it both ways.

The biggest problem I have is that the Defense has actually gotten worse at the basics over the season. Poor tackling, poor stance, poor reads, and Jancek has yet to even try to come up with anything to combat a mobile quarterback. I just don't understand how he can watch this much game film with us getting smoked when the quarterback runs, and not craft some defensive scheme that at least tries to stop him.

Jancek had the pass coverage package in against an O that had only attempted 16 passes in their previous two games. As part of the greatest coaching staff in America, he knew that Auburn was trying to lull UT into defending the run and then boom -- out comes the passing attack and the next thing you know Auburn has rolled up 444 yards passing and 55 points and .......... Oh, wait.

its too early to tell imo

The only question I have is DC and thats purely because of his resume. Nothing they could have done about this year because this defense is bad. Bad, bad. Middle school coaches teach stuff that these players mess up on.

As far as the OC, imo, I think that he'll be fine once he gets players for his system (including linemen and tightends that fit the system). When that happens I think we'll see a difference in playcalling and better execution from the players.

I'm not sold on the staff either. But Butch and his process has been proven to work with these guys at all his previous stops. They were successful there and the hope is it will be here too. Success at Cincy and Central Michigan may not automatically translate to success in the SEC but at least we didn't hire someone who had never succeed like Dooley again.

Only time will tell.

It should be obvious by now to all that this team is made up of many kids who just don't take coaching. You here it for yourselves in the press conferences. Butch tells us what the team needs to be doing on kickoffs, and defense, etc... And then we all watch the players do things totally different. This tells me that they have been coached, and practiced to do it the way Butch said 2,3,4 weeks ago in his presser, but the players aren't actually doing what they are coached to do. I think this is one BIG reason Butch is bringing in 30+ this year. It is house cleaning time. But this time Butch is bringing in SEC caliber players who will take coaching. New attitude. New breed on the Hill.

Yea, very solid analysis...

The defense Jancek employs, which I think is called the " do not tackle, pursue and be out of position constantly" is not working.

Many have tried to convince him to ask his players to tackle, but he is stubborn and he will only run his own defense.

...

Yeah, that's probably why Connor Shaw ran all over us and we got blown out at home against South Carolina.

OH WAIT

Need to stay the course with Bajakian... we can't afford turnover with this young team. On the defensive side, i would not at all be heartbroken if we went and got somebody else. I feel like we'll be starting so fresh anyway on that side, that new blood won't be so adverse.

I can understand the other side though. We had good gameplan and execution against SCAR and for the most part UGA... so maybe the depth is starting to really show up now this late in the season.

Sounds to me like we have someone or more than one wants to coach. Now, if you are qualified and interested please by all means put in your application. If you believe that you can make instant play calling, player position changes that will guarntee a win for your team then you are our coach. If not..............go back to your xbox or play station or whatever.
