Anyone heard about this with Nico and parents

i have long been told my someone who works in the athletic department that nico has never once been a problem, but the people around him are headaches to put it nicely. everyting he told me a couple weeks ago lines up pretty close to the hooker article, and around 3:00 on the saturday that the matthews stuff blowed up, they were less than 50/50 that nico was coming back and was headed to miami.

Loyalty in college football was never real. It was forced. Pretending otherwise is just an attempt to fool yourself brother.

Of course there was loyalty. If there’s no loyalty, then why did Peyton Manning come back for his senior season? And play most of that 1997 Orange Bowl with a inflamed sac in his knee that needed draining both before and after the game? What other reasons would there have been to endure that?

Loyalty was real for a long time. But modern pro sports did away with loyalty ages ago, and now college has followed suit. People just don’t value it much anymore - and that applies to almost everyone.

Yes, it's new. Some star players were getting handouts from boosters. Some got favorable deals on cars at dealerships. Again some. Most weren't getting anything. Now, everyone is getting paid, but it's never been from the university. Then nor now
It’s not new, which was the stance. Didn’t ask for a breakdown of the past, just that it happened. And nobody cares about the backup scout team getting a lawn care NIL in Anderson Co. Thanks and regroup.

I'd have to let him go. Submitting to his càmp's demands can only cause problems with the other players. It will fracture the team. Too bad.

Heard it the other day. If true i would of let him walk. This is exactly why they need binding contracts instead of this free for all we're seeing all across college football.

You would think with all these stories of him and his family being so money hungry, HE WOULD HAVE ACTUALLY HIT THE PORTAL!!! Our idiot fans will believe any story that casts our players in a bad light. But yeah keep clicking on the media that has always crapped on the Tennessee program.
I heard it from Dave Hooker(Hardly a guy that likes to crap on UT sports) who is quite confident of his sources. 🤔

To begin with, this is purely speculation. Moreover, coaches do this sort of thing all the time. Yet, we keep taking these stories and running with them.

No other sport operates this way.
True, but no other sport operated with a completely shady model for so long while making money hand over fist. This was all bound to happen and rather than use forward thinking, the NCAA decided to just ride it into the ground and clean up for as long as they could.

Hopefully, the market will regulate itself once the shine wears off and people get tired of throwing money away.

I love Nico and have defended him taking his lumps in the fire last year but all of this is making me indifferent to him staying or leaving. He's not worth all of this and he's not bigger than the team.

Since the Kiffin mess I’ve never gotten the sense our local media was on our side.
"Local media" to us is a merely a job for them. David Climer comes to mind instantly. He was an enormous douche nozzle Tennessean reporter that never had anything good to say about UT. In the newspaper entitled 'Tennesseean'.

The Big 10 has money to spend and they enjoy spending it. We can either keep up with them, or hope they fall off. Or try some weird combination of both. And maybe pray for some new rules and regulations to help us compete with the big boys.
