anyone heard how crompton is doing

Quite frankly, we are in good shape. Since all these kids are Vols and have worked their @$$es off wearing the orange, I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy. I'll pull for one of them, both of them or all of them. After watching Sanders work magic last year, I'll trust his judgment. I'm not going to lose sleep over our QB situation.

But here's a promise. Clausen will starte the UAB game. Before he takes his first snap there will be one or more threads on here whining about it.

So which is it?  Are you a betting man, and you want to put some kind of wager on Ainge being the starter on 9-3, or do you not want to put something where your typing fingers are and just admit to me that you're not confident enough that your boy, your all star, super hero boy, just might not be so damn good that Clausen wouldn't start ahead of him?

 Please......just what do you have against Ainge Beltway? Did he sleep with your girlfriend or something?

That's what C.J. thought too in a post Casey Era.

Dude that is totaly diffrent and you know it. CJ is on no level near Ainge is OK? there is 0 chance that Crompton will ever make his way infront of Ainge. Its funny how Ainge is in heisman talks and you want to set him on the bench for someone you don't even know will suceed on the College level. Ainge has already beaten out Cj, Rick, And Brent for the job. I am sure he will handle JC with out any problem.

2345 to the contrary, everyone is for Ainge, everyone except for you is for Clausen too. Ainge, physically has much greater upside than Clausen. But, this isn't about who's right or what is the name of the starting QB. The issue is about who can lead this team to the most victories. If you think Clausen or Crompton are out of the running, I'm thinking you may be drinking water from the Alabama River. None of us on this board, you or me included, can make an honest, thorough and objective decision on the starting QB. Only the men who work with these kids on the field and in the film and meeting rooms can do that.

Since Ainge didn't win the job outright in the spring, it may be time for you to get used to the idea that he's not head and shoulders above the others.

So you really think he is not head ans shoulders ahead of everyone else? where do you get I am for Rick? If you really are telling me that you think he isnt going to start then you are the crazy one. I am sorry that you feel that I have no idea what I am talking about but if you really think that he isn't head and shoulders abouve everyone else then I think you are the one that needs help. And please dont say I am drinking from an Alabama river, you are going to make me mad by saying stupid stuff like that.

I don't care who starts, as long as they get the job done, honestly. If it is Ainge, that's great. If it's Clausen, that's great, too. Both are capable of running the offense. I do think it will be Ainge in the end, however.

I'd rather play the BEST player available.  If that player is a freshman, and he is the better player for the next three seasons, and you want to call it "pissing away" a scholorship, than you are damn right I would start a true freshman over a True Sophomore.  By the way, I wonder if this was the stance you took last season when Clausen and Leak were pushed to Number 2 and 3?

I have to agree if a freshman comes up and is a better talent than a senior and knows the playbook than play him!!!!! The best player will play bottom line!!

2345- I don't even like taking the time to explain myself to you. I don't have anything against Ainge. You're the one that has turned it personal. I'm not gonna go back over the points I have now made MULTILPLE times in this thread AGAIN, maybe if you would GO BACK AND READ before REPLYING, you would be caught up in the conversation.

I'm glad you know so much about Crompton. If he is playing and Ainge isn't, you will NOT hear the end of it from me, I promise you that. If Ainge is playing and Crompton isn't, then GREAT. Won't bother me as long as we are winning. But from what I know and have seen, Crompton CAN compete WITH and BEYOND what I have seen from Ainge.

Beltway, how much of JC have you seen? Not asking this in order to slam you, just wondering if you've actually seen Crompton in action. All I've seen are stats and highlight reels.

I've seen him play in a few games.

I've met him a few times, had a few brief conversations with him.

I own the DVD that was sold a few months back that has his last highschool game on it, as well as interviews with him and his family.

I have met his dad and talked briefly with him.

I have conversed with his mother thru several different messages.

I know that he has been brought up well and I know that he hold the maturity, the drive and determination, and the physical tools to be an amazing athelte at the University of Tennessee. I have told several people how "Peytonesqe" he has seemed every time I have seen him.

I don't claim to "know" that he will do this or will do that. But I do know that having seem what I have seen of him, I feel that he is a very special person, and a GREAT embassador for the University.

No, the correct answer would be you know nothing of his college career. Players dont get pt b/c they were great in high school. They get it b/c theyre good in college. He hasnt even suited up for a game, let alone play in one, and you wanna call him the greatest thing to ever happen to UT, the next peyton if you will. How about this, Ainge is the best QB on your roster, because hes proven. WHEN crompton actually reports to practice, then we can open up discussion. Youre too caught up in this beltway, he hasnt done anything yet...ainge has, and thats why youre getting "slammed". Recognize that Ainge is one helluva player, and say that crompton hasnt done a damn thing, and make it clear that you think crompton MIGHT turn in to a good player, and say he will compete for a starting pos. But until he actually puts on a UT uni...Theres no debating who your starter is.

No, the question had nothing to do with his college career, so that wouldn't be the answer.

Let me explain something to you. Try reading the entire post, and try actually having your "special helper" explain it to you before replying. You like to add things in, and assume a lot, and that's getting you nowhere.

I NEVER said Jon was "the greatest thing to ever happen to UT".

I NEVER said Jon was "the next Peyton".

I NEVER said Ainge wasn't a good player.

I'm a Tennessee fan on a Tennessee message board, and I will debate whatever the hell I want to debate. I will not EVER let anyone, much less a Florida fan tell me what I can and can't have an opinion about, and as long as the people that run this site allow me to post my opinions, I will do so whenever I see fit. If you don't like my opinions, or the way I bring them across the information superhighway, than I suggest that you ignore my posts. That way, you won't be stressed out while you sit behind your computer screen with your cheeto stained fingers, pressing the glasses that are 4 sizes too big, back up the bridge of your nose and wiping your runny nose on your sleeve. That goes for anyone else that doesn't "like my style". You wanna take cheap shots at me in other threads, go for it. I won't stoop to your level and engage you, unless you are direct enough to do it to my face, but if and when you are, look out. I'm pretty damn easy to get along with as long as I am given the smallest amount of respect. (You know, the amount you might give to an ant on an anthill that you wouldn't kill simply because you can.) Again, if you don't like me or my style, that is your right, and it's your right to tell me that or to not tell me that. It won't bother me either way. I wont run to a mod or Freak and report you. But hell, just spend your time on here posting, having fun, and debating topics that you like to talk about and don't try to make other people conform or try to tell people they are saying something they aren't and everyone will be just fine regardless what the topic is.

Whooooooah, horsey! This has become a little bit heated, would you say? Can I throw in a couple of points:

1. Every school in the country would love to be forced to have this argument (especially if you throw C3 into the mix in a couple of years)

2. NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY knows who's going to start yet.

3. This is a MESSAGE BOARD, and all who post are free to voice their opinions. I really don't think it's right to start hurling insults or flaming other users just because they don't agree with you.

4. A freshman QB is a FRESHMAN. Remember those mistakes you (who are old enough) made as freshmen? Those happen on the field, too -- e.g. some ill-advised passes from Ainge and hasty scrambles from Schaeffer last year.

5. This year's season will begin after the opener with trips to THE SWAMP and BATON ROUGE. At least one will be at night. Can you imagine a freshman QB getting plays called in to him every down under the thunderous roar of these intimidating stadiums? Last year was different, and we had big games at home, but we STILL saw the effect of inexperience during play calling. I, for one, felt like I was watching a train slipping off the tracks in slow motion on numerous occations.

I don't think anyone here is dissing the talent of any of our prospects, but realistically, with the touted Sophomore and the Aggie-slayer available, do you REALLY want a true freshman taking the opening snap?

KD sounds like the voice of reason...oh and the reference to Jimmy being C-3, that's cool but it's too bad that he's not the 4th in line then we could call him C-4, Mr. Explosive, although I have no doubt he will be that and more.

Did I ever say you couldnt have an opinion? NO. Youre getting mad at me for putting words in your mouth, look what youre doing to me. I simply said it was ignorant to think about this, now. Ill never run from you, what the hell is there to run from. Noone on here likes you, because you do stupid stuff like this, post something, osmeone posts a differing opinion, and you go on a little rant, and say " that they have big glasses, chetto stained fingers and what not.

Ive never seen someone get so upset because A. not many people agree with him and B. many people say, what the hell are you talking about.

I made a point as to you dont know what kinda player crompton is going to turn into, you do know what kind of player ainge is. Until you can recognize that youll always be the hilbilly that locks himself in his log cabbin atop the great hills of tennessee calling people out on a message board.

I didn't realize that Volnation was a popularity contest. Obviously, for you and some of the "regulars" it is. I'm not here to impress people or make friends. If it happens, (and it always does on these boards), then awesome. If not, I won't lose sleep. Let me explain to you why I post the way I do. Maybe it will make sense to you, and maybe not.

I view "BeltwayVol" as a character. Not as a mirror of myself. I also view "Gatorville" as a character. I may attack the post that you make, and I may attack the "character" that you use here, but I fully understand and am almost ALWAYS aware that "Gatorville" and (whatever your name is), are seperate people. I don't ever intend to attack you as a person, just the "character" that you use on the message board. There is humor in reading two "characters" go back and forth with each other, either in debate or gentle jabs. If you couldn't laugh at "cheeto stained fingers,.....etc" then you are way too serious for me.

I understand that a lot of people can not seperate the "characters" they use, and themselves. I understand that where those people are concerned, I am probably the devil. So be it. I like having fun here and I genuinely do NOT mean harm whenever I debate or "attack" your character.

I really do hope that you believe me and that there are no "true" hard feelings towards me. If there is, there isn't anything I can do but say, sorry. Otherwise, lets just kick back and have fun.

For the record, GAVol is not a character. My wife would tell you that I really am this big a jerk in real life.

Well, everybody looks at this stuff differently. I am just trying to explain myself so that people might understand where I am coming from.

Ya big Jerk! :neener:
