Anyone play guitar?

Guitar Pro has really helped me learn songs. It's also really good for practicing with a metronome and as a scale reference

Here is mine, its just a cheap Crescent guitar I got for $60 bucks.

This morning I spent some time listening to a YouTube video on tuning a guitar. Mine sounds pretty close to the video but I can never be sure. I really wish I invested in a better guitar to learn on though.

There's more out there. Just Google around.

Nice guitar govols, what are some of ya'lls favorites?

Personally my dream collection would consist of the following even if I couldn't play them haha;

Rickenbacker 325 in Jetglo (My favorite looking guitar of all time)
Gibson J45 and Gibson J-160E
Epiphone Casino
Gretsch Country Gentleman
Fender Stratocaster
Les Paul & Les Paul Junior

Nice choices. If I could buy just one more right now, I'd go with a Taylor Koa 12-String.

Sweet ! I love the way they can make wood look on a guitar. Is that Quilted Maple?

Koa is beautiful. Taylor has done some really great looking work with Koa over the last ten years or so. I would love to have a 12 string, if just to play a couple CS&N or John Denver tunes. My trouble was that I didn't want to put the money into it to buy a good one, and I was always afraid that a cheap one's neck wouldn't hold up.

Anyway, for me the back of an acoustic guitar is one of the most beautiful things in music. Koa, Cocobolo, Madagascar Rosewood, Claro Walnut, Flamed or Quilted Maple and Mahogany, Indian and of course Brazilian Rosewood.

Cocobolo has some of the most colorful and dramatic figuring. I think it is part of the Rosewood Family.

Surprisingly enough, if you look at the old 1930's-40's Martins the grain was as straight as the current Indian Rosewood.

BTW - I do NOT own this guitar. Just admiring a Dana Bourgeois creation.

This was my very first guitar. The pic is from the internet as this has been gone a long time. Sears Silvertone. The case was the amp.

This was my second guitar. Wish I had been smart enough, or rich enough, to hang on to it. 1960's Gibson Melody Maker.

It's an epiphone lp ultra. It has a chambered mahogany body & quilt top with a satin neck & rosewood fretboard.

No Kidding, it would be worth a pretty penny today. Friend of mine still has his Melody Maker. He took it to a Guitar shop because he wanted a new pickup. The tech took one look at it and told him he was crazy if he changed one thing on that guitar. He offered to adjust everything but that was a far as he would go.

Everyone still playing? I am still with it going on 6 months. My guitar teacher is moving to Buffalo, so I have a new teacher I am starting with tomorrow. Kinda nervous playing in front of someone new, but I'll try him out a session or two. Been learning a lot on my own on You Tube. Lots of great, free resources out there.

Just learned Radiohead's Fake Plastic Trees tonight. Cool, mellow song...perfect for a campfire.

That Koa Taylor is sweeeeet. I'm looking into a Koa 12-string in the near future. Need to sell this house first.

Is that pretty easy to learn for a beginner. I'll check it out

Keep it up man. I haven't been playing much lately, kind of distracted from travel and a wedding.

Great way to clear your head and just chill for a while, though. It gets better and better the more you play. Just stick with it.

It makes me happy when I play, and the only one I feel compelled to please is myself !

Of course I have pretty low standards, but what the heck.

Thanks. I find it to be a great hobby and stress reliever. Sometimes my wife will go upstairs to bed and I will stay down and play for an hour or so. Good way to relax and have some alone time.

Keep it up man, you never quit learning, remember that.

I need a new amp, tired of the one I got, had it since high school, multi-effects amps just don't get the true sound a tube amp does.

One day I will take my Line6 to Guitar Center and get a Marshall.

My newest "weapon". Custom made by High Country Dulcimers of Boone, NC. Has two extra frets and electric plug-in. Walnut body with Sitka Spruce top. Mother of Pearl inserts.IMG_0401.jpg
