Anyone scared our defense makes Iowa QB look like a Heisman candidate?

Can't they run the ball adequately? There is a lot of enticing film from MO, UA, and UGA that I'm sure they're licking chops over. Our new defensive backfield better be ready to tackle because they may have too many opportunities.

Edit: looked at a few stats. They don't run it either. Lesbon Williams has data and a 5 yard average when he touches it tho.

No, not really. He would have a hard time looking like a Heisman Candidate versus Cherokee High School.

Kubinak for Clemson looked like a struggling freshman just last Bowl season or did I watch a different game. I personally didn't think he looked like a Heisman. In fact, the Clemson fans where saying I wish Dabo hadn't run Off Uiagaleleli.
Ok maybe not every. But are you going to deny that it’s very common for opponents average quarterbacks have stellar games against us??????? Because if so, I’ll be glad to give you a long list.

We cant allow Iowa to have the 10minute ball control drives then we go 3 and out in 45 seconds of game clock. This scenario is absolutely a recipe for disaster as we have seen!

What does it matter if they still lose?
It will just be further proof that neither one of those coaches are any good. Iowa’s QBs best game this year:

20/31 233 yards 1 TD and 1 INT

That was against Rutgers. So if he lights up our secondary, that means Banks and Martinez are worse than Rutgers coaches and that is absolutely unacceptable. This game will tell us quite a bit.

Its funny reading through these post, a lot are saying its a throw away game, put Nico in, it don't matter if we win or lose nobody cares.
After the game you could see these kind of post no matter what......
Yeah Nico looked great but it don't mean anything it was a throw away Bowl game Iowa didn't even show up or
Nico didn't looked good but we had so many opt out and it was a throw away game and a lot just didn't give their all or
Nico looked great we could be in the final 4 next year or
I know Joe looked really good but I'm glad he's gone or
I cant wait to see what Merklinger will do if he gets a fair shot in 2024 or
It was a throw away game but now we are 8 & 5 things looking bad for 2024 or
we would have won if we had put Nico in sooner or
I really thought this was a throw away game but waiting all the way till next Fall with this L really hurts. Its going to be a long off season....Happy New Year💥🎊🎉🎈

Too many variables to make a comparison like that......but ok.

Iowa will be lucky to score 14 points against our defense.

The only way we lose this game is if the guys don't care or make dumb mistakes.

You can't be serious. Iowa is a veteran football team. They will design a short passing game against this defense with a weak secondary sure to be confused probably especially at safety and nickel.

For the last 25 years, we’ve made every QB look like a Heisman candidate, even their backup.

With our history and so many DBs gone, how can I not be concerned? Scared? I hope the team does not get itself embarrassed. Not saying it will, but I am surprised Vol Nation is not freaking out.

If we were playing anyone else you might have a point. Like maybe a high school team. But Iowa's Passing attack is uhhhh. Bro, they passed for 1601 yards in 13 games along with 9 td's and 9 ints. not their Starting QB their TEAM 123 yards per game. Their starting QB threw for over 120 yards twice.....223 and 167. now if Cade Mcnamarra hadn't torn His ACL the story would be different but they are stuck with Jared Lorenzen's Slightly smaller cousin Deacon Hill instead. Their 2 biggest threats on offense (tight ends) are out on season-ending injuries and likely would be opting out for the draft anyway. So you take an already bad offense and take their best 3 players away, they didn't lose anything of note to the portal so far except a bunch of backup QB's and a reserve WR. But what they have left isn't much to sneeze at.

Right now as it stands their biggest offensive threat is their 3rd string TE. Can't make this up their 3rd string TE is better than their starting WR's. He was good for 29 catches for 178 yards and 2 TD's. If they score more than 14 against us something is seriously wrong. Just no......Them rushing for 200 yards is more likely than them passing for 200.... that is also very unlikely as they only rushed for 1500 on the season 117 per game. I'll go out on a limb and say if they can muster 300 yards of total offense against us they have played their best game of the season.

Agree with all of this, other than the fact that we do have three very solid RBs who are bigger threats than our #3 TE.
