Apparently something is going on?

Firing Holly could end up being a disaster.

After firing Phillip Fulmer seven seasons ago, the football team still does not have a truly marquee win. Still have not beaten Florida or Alabama, and still have not won even a division title in a Very Mediocre division.

The Fulmer Curse.

She is a disaster.

Fire Holly, NOW!:)

Coaches will say the exact right thing to the media. We as fans never know exactly what is going on and being said behind the scenes. I'm not saying Walz would leave for Tennessee, but the right amount of money would get him to thinking along with Tennessee's tradition, fan base, history and alumni could influence him.

He would be a Fool to leave Louisville for Tennessee.

Tennessee is a divided fan base, comprised of the most Vicious of critics.

No what killed football was fulmer's lack of recruiting the last few years being replaced by kiffin who then left after a year...then bringing in the worst coach in Dooley

He would be a Fool to leave Louisville for Tennessee.

Tennessee is a divided fan base, comprised of the most Vicious of critics.

Louisville fans were going the early part of the season also because the team started off 1-5. Previous years a lot of fans complained about things also. Walz is just now getting the type of talent Tennessee possesses, but has done more with less. Some UT fans don't won't to settle for mediocre and average. That's what we are getting. Holly has all this talent, goes from preseason #3/4 to unranked, looks clueless in interviews and on the sideline, don't seem to think offense is important, seems OK with the level of play, but you think fans are suppose to be happy and support Holly no matter what?

Louisville has been getting really good recruiting classes. Didn't he have the #1 recruiting class this year? It's not like the players he has on the court are not good. They got off to a rough start, but have been very good since those first few weeks.

The problem is Tennessee has nothing to offer him. He has no reason to leave Louisville, where he has the players, AD support, top notch facilities, and fan support and come to Tennessee, which is quickly flaming out and is fast becoming a shell of a once great program.

They are better off getting a younger coach who is making marks for a smaller school and wants to now move up to a bigger stage. They don't have enough to offer the Jeff Walzes of the world.

It really gets down to what the school wants, do you take a successful young unknown who has not been on the big stage and hope it works, or do you take a known whose ideology has worked on the big stage? As to what Tennessee has to offer versus Louisville will be Jeff's decision. Sometimes the right amount of money and the desire to return a program back to its prior position is enough. Jeff is in his forties which does not make him ancient. With the right coach, of which I believe Jeff is, this program can be turned around before it heads into the carper. Even next year there will be some good parts left in the LV program that can be regrouped. If we were able to entice Jeff now, he would be able to recruit some really good players for 2017 and perhaps bring in a JC or grad student that can help immediately. I am still not convinced that with the right coach the present team is not a good team. I believe that it only needs the right captain at the helm. However, right now we are only dealing with the, "What ifs and the maybes."

Whether it's Jeff Walz or whoever, they need to fix the chemistry issue with this team and the only way to fix it is to have a solid system and hold these players accountable. Chemistry issues at the college level tend to be players not liking each other. So you will see things like what you are seeing now. Frustrated players..... Players playing in an offense with no identity and passes that should go to someone standing right there not because of petty beefs.

Saban, Geno, and the other great coaches often talk about "the process" and "the system". UConn will be at the top for a very long time until Geno decides to retire or move on to another school.

The process or system is TEAM. Geno's starters last year had 100 assists each. Something to think about

Louisville is currently ranked #12 and has great recruits. They have also played in two final fours recently. Why would he give that all up to coach an unranked team with no future prospects? It makes absolutely no sense unless a lot of money was being thrown at him. Women's basketball does not make enough (if any) money at Tennessee to justify the outlays. Hiring a top (expensive) coach would put the program deeply into the red. I cannot see that happening.

And if the program remains out of the top 25, how many offers of televised games (and revenue) will be coming from ESPN next year? Success means money. A lack of success means the TV revenues dry up. How many times a year is Middle Tennessee or ETSU on national TV? Probably only when they are cannon fodder for someone really good.

So is it fair to allow the women's program to go to crap while we fire and hire men basketball and football coaches? The success of the Lady Vol program is a key part of UT's athletic success. I highly doubt if UT goes bankrupt from hiring a top dollar coach. Didn't we pay Pat around $2 million a year? I do not remember UT considering bankruptcy. How long will the present free fall affect the LV's financially? Think about it we are paying Holly around $800,000 a year, adding $250,000 is not going to add up to a deep red situation. How long before we see a lot of empty seats at LV games at TBA? Fans are not going to stand around and long support a program that UT is allowing to go to hell in a hand cart.

If I was still a young coach like Walz I would be thinking I could continue the tradition that Pat built and think he could get the recruits in here rather quickly. He has a good thing going at Louisville but Tennessee could be better. He would be one of the choices and if not interested I am sure there are coaches out there who are interested. There are many out there that could do better than what we have now.

I feel I need to respond to some of the comments that have been made.

If Jeff can mold a team of mostly freshmen and sophomores into championship caliber, just think what he could do with 5 McD AAs and a few spare parts. If UT is going to pull the trigger, they need to do it ASAP. I am sure that Jeff has a good crop of 2017 recruits, and doubt if Holly has anything close to that. I also think that Jeff has a better chance of encouraging one or two top JC post into signing with Tennessee. Right now Holly has way too many negative things associated with her program that she will need to overcome in order to have a successful recruiting class. One more year of Holly and this program could seriously crash and burn, it has already lost some serious altitude.
People are saying what Coach Walz could do with 5 McD AA's. Right now he has 5 on the team (Mariya Moore, Myisha Hines-Allen 2014, Asia Durr, Taja Cole & Samantha Feuhring 2015 & two more coming in next year Cierra Johnson & Kylee Shook 2016). He's already getting these type players, and we have no seniors on the team this year so everyone will be back next year.

Yes we had the #1 recruiting class last year and around the #5 ranked class this year. Don't know what we have lined up for 2017 exactly but I do know most of the top ranked girls are at least looking at U of L. We did get off to a rough start but have one 16 of the last 17 games with our only loss being to ND by 5, a game we led most of the day and really should have won.

The problem is Tennessee has nothing to offer him. He has no reason to leave Louisville, where he has the players, AD support, top notch facilities, and fan support and come to Tennessee, which is quickly flaming out and is fast becoming a shell of a once great program.
I disagree in part because I do think that UT has the history and tradition, as well as a great fan base. That being said I don't think that would be enough to entice him away from what he already has (players, AD support, facilities and fan support).

True we never know exactly what they're thinking but . . . 1)Jeff is from Kentucky; and, 2) Money will not really be an object as the AD can pretty much match any salary that any other school could offer.

Or Jeff could do what he has stated before, build a new tradition at U of L. He's already taken us to 2 NC games, with not as much talent as he has started to amass with these past recruiting classes. Could UT be better for him . . . maybe, maybe not. As a season ticket holder for U of L I hope we never have to answer that question.

None of us know what the hell is going to happen at UT, probably nothing....The only thing that will make coaching changes are empty seats and booster's donations dry up...

The program that Warlick is running is on empty. It will be over soon, but will begin again nest season, only to fail again...And then just maybe, a change will take place after next season.

Women's Basketball is no longer a priority at Tennessee.
The Athletic Department doesn't understand what kind of revenue can be made off of a successful Lady Vol Basketball Program. Dave Hart has never really been the AD at a school that has had successful basketball period.
Hart is part of the reason that Alabama's Women now play in the equivalent of a middle school gym. Holly isn't going anywhere and the Lady Vols aren't high on the priority list.

In the end no matter who has what, what UL or UT fans think, it will be up to Jeff if offered th chance. I would think it would be a good leverage, if offered the LV job, to raise the ante at UL. There are a lot of reasons for Jeff to stay where he is and also a lot of reasons to move to a storied program and bring it back to where it needs to be. So right now a lot of UL people are hoping Jeff stays while a lot of UT people are hoping he heads this way. In the end it will be Jeff's decision and the amount of financial security involved. Anyway why is a UL fan trolling Vol Nation. I certainly do not troll UL nation, nor do I ever desire to, however, to each his/her own. I do like the Cards they are one of my favorite teams after the LVs.

I'm not trolling. It was on one of our forums that Jeff's name was being mentioned on some of UT's forums. I came over and read some of them and thought that I could be part of a logical forum discussion where we all maintained a certain level of decorum. I feel that I have done just that, providing another point of view to which others could respond, which most have done.

I've not been critical of whatever the situation is currently as I am not as close to that as others are so I never presumed to come on this site and tell anyone what they should or should not do in regards to your current coach. I simply offered a viewpoint from another perspective.

teacherdean, you are more than welcome on our forums if you wish. Like I stated earlier I really enjoyed my one interaction with Coach Warlick and I know our fan base was appreciative that the Lady Vols helped us inaugurate the YUM by playing the first game in our new arena 6 years ago (even though you beat us :))

Sorry that you think I am "trolling" your forum. We have to deal with UK fans all the time so I'm well aware of what trolling is.

At this stage in the coach's tenure, our fans are getting awfully impatient. We are experiencing less hope than we have experienced in a program of excellence. Thanks for your insights. Best wishes to your program.

And to yours. I remember when Coach Summit was introduced at our first game she received a standing ovation. I know I was really saddened when she was diagnosed.

Welcome to the board. So far your posts have been respectful and pertinent. We have some real "fans" of other teams that come on here and troll...some overtly some covertly. You aren't one of those. So again, welcome:hi:.

I will be thoroughly shocked if UofL paid him $1.3m to stick around. Summit was in that range so it's not impossible nor unprecedented to be done at UT. It's not a question of whether or not UofL can pay it but will they? Is WBB that much of a priority to them?

I'm not sure he gets a $500-$600k raise there, but I could be wrong. And it may not even take a matching offer to keep him. With upwards of $900k being paid to Pitino, Petrino and McDonnell when does money become an issue for UofL?

Again to each his/her own that why we live in America. I guess trolling was a bad terminology.
