Apple event 9/9 1:00pm

Back in February. Took my phone in but they couldn't see me for a couple days at the Genius Bar. I couldn't go 3 days with no phone so I asked about trading it in. She took it in the back for a tech to check it out & told me I could get $252 for it. I had an upgrade so I just put that toward a new 32gb 5s.

Was the one you traded in a 32gb? They fetch a little more. There's a $100 difference in the retail of a 16gb and 32gb

Also that is about 7 months ago is probably why there's a bigger gap now. Plus the release of a New model will reduce the price further.

Couple of questions:

If we do next and eligible for it, do we get to keep our old phone? My daughter will be eligible for 2 yr contract upgrade in October, but is eligible for next now.

I see the $100 credit when adding a new next line...would we get that?

Only time you have to trade in your phone is if you're already on Next and want to trade in for a newer device. So she can keep hers.
The $100 credit is only for New smartphone activations and for byod tablets. So if you want say your iPad to have available cellular data you can add it to your plan on a 2yr agreement and we give you $100 Bill credit.

I will say this for anyone looking to switch to At&t and do the Next plan. Its based on credit and most don't qualify right off the bat. You have to have, I believe, A B+ credit rating. The good thing if you don't qualify automatically is that after 1yr you'll be able to upgrade on the NEXT plans.

I'm right in saying thou that if each person pays their portion seperately, then the ones who get new phones will be paying more per month, correct. Where it is $57 per month per individual now, if we went mobile share 10gb, it would be $40 ($160 split 4 ways) plus the monthly charge for the phone, say $35 for the 6. Is this pretty accurate? I'm looking at this as 4 seperate people sharing one plan.

That's where most people have run into issues with this. It would be 40 a line (actually less $4.75 with your discount) and pay more when you get new phones. You could keep splitting it four ways, which would mean the people who aren't getting new phones would be paying for you when you do... But considering that the subsidy has been rolled into the bill this whole time, that means the other people have essentially been paying for your new phones this whole time anyways. Time to cut them a break, maybe?

Do whatever you think is equitable.

So talked to my daughter and I think we will switch to the mobile share. She was shocked at her data usage. She said she doesn't really watch videos...certainly not full shows or anything like that. She uses it like me...navigation (she probably does more than me), streaming audio in the car, email and surfing. So she isn't sure what is using so much data.

ON the 15gb share plan, what is the monthly rate you were basing it on?

10GB is $100, 15 is $130

I thought it was $160 for 4 lines and 10 gb share.

Sucks they give the incentives to new customers as opposed to loyal customers that have been there for years.

He's talking about the base plan of 10gb is $100. Then $15 for each line you add onto it.

If you get close to your 10gb limit, will AT&T let you know? Or do you get a huge bill with overages on data?

We use text messages when you hit 65, 75, and 90%. You can also use my att.com or the app to keep up with data usage, change your rate plan, and pay your bill. You can also turn off data for users from the app or site. Or set data limits for individual users that will shut the data off once they reach it.

Thanks folks...it's nerve racking to get rid the unlimited data. Just don't want to straddle others in the plan with a higher bill

I get a 20% discount no matter where I go, just want to see where and if I come out ahead.

Yes they usually do. Think it's an email to primary line or text to line going over. I'm sure with a share plan it'll be something. Or dial *DATA#
