Apple event 9/9 1:00pm

So my mother wants to get the 5c. Can I just have her do the subsidized 2 yr contract since it will now be $0 for the 5c? How will that affect the mobile share plan?

I'd like to hear thoughts on iPhone 6 vs. iPhone 6 Plus.

In the past, I thought the 5.5" phones looked silly and were too big. Now, I'm considering one.

Does anyone have a 5.5" phone and could you list some advantages and disadvantages of it? For instance, when running into the store, I like to throw my phone in my back pocket. Do the largest phones fit into standard pockets? Also, with the larger size, and as thin as it is, would you worry about it being easier to break?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Carriers are required to send free text warnings if overages are about to occur.

Not realated to the quote just getting your attention.

Do you know if Verizon iPhones work on T-Mobile? I've heard V iPhones are unlocked out if the box and I've witnessed a V iPhone 5 work with an ATT SIM, but I've heard it doesn't work with T-Mobile unless V unlocks it.

Wouldn't be a new day without a new question...so I think we've decided to do the next. Do I need to go to AT&T and switch over? Is it easier to pre-order thru Apple or AT&T?

As mentioned in a previous question, my mother is out of contract so at some point she wants to get an iphone 5. The 2 yr. contract deals are $0 on the 5c. Can she decide to do the 2 yr. contract, get the free phone and still do the mobile share at the same price as if she did "next"?

It's a case by case basis, but generally Verizon models can make phone calls and SMS/MMS messages on other networks in the US, but won't connect to other carriers data networks. I'm not sure about the iPhone, though.

Apple supposedly ships 5's or later unlocked to all carriers. I know 100% certain this is true with 5s models, but not sure about regular 5s. You could always ask them to try a dummy sim card before purchasing, a good salesmen should do that.

This is true of nearly all android devices, its an APN setting that can be changed but isn't terribly easy to do.

Hey Freak...

So are you going to "pull the trigger" before you pre-order your phone? Not sure how to change plans...guess I'll go into a store.

You pre-ordering thru AT&T or Apple?

Yeah, I'll probably go ahead and switch over first. But it probably won't matter as long as you choose to buy the phone via NEXT instead of a two-year contract. If you buy the phone via the two year contract price, it will add $25 to your bill each month for the next two years, which defeats the purpose in my case.

You can change plans in the store, online, or by calling 611 from your AT&T phone.

I'm pre-ordering through Apple.

Which did you decide on? 6 or 6 Plus? And why? I'm still trying to decide...

I'm getting the plus just because I like the bigger screen and better battery. Many people think the 4.7-inch version is more pocketable though, which I completely understand.

I don't know how Apples preorder works, but if you preorder tomm through At&t you'll go through the regular upgrade process and pay for it and we ship it to your house. I know with the galaxy s5 people got their phone a few days before the release day.

Thanks B-Stizzy...so you think I should get it in a timely fashion from AT&T if I wake up and pre-order tonight? My daughter wants a phone as well...do I need to order that as well?

Even if you live beside FedEx & your phone gets there 2 days early they will hold it & deliver on Friday.

You will get it on the 19th assuming you are one of the first ones to get through. If not you will be backordered.

free iphone 6 if you switch to Verizon, trade in your old iphone (4 or 5) and sign a new 2 year agreement.

As far as I'm aware, Costco is currently the only brick and mortar retailer allowed to sell the iPhone 5S for a lower price than what Apple mandates. We have it for $78, every other place I've looked (WalMart, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Fry's, Sam's Club, Fred Meyer, Target) has them for $100 with a two year contract.

So you think both the new ones will sell for less than what's advertised on day one?

Could be. I will definitely post here when I know that's the case.

All I know is that Costco will have them on launch day and it will come with a few free accessories.

I wouldn't bet on it being cheaper but free stuff would be alright. The only thing with retailers is they get even smaller shipments than carriers & Apple Stores.
