Are we approaching the defining moment in CJH's tenure at UT?

We aren't making the playoffs this year and won't next year either based off what we have to replace so if heupel doesn't have us in the playoffs in 2026 with a nc chance he will and should be on the hot seat in 2027. Id prefer he be forced give up a 1/3 of his salary for not making the playoffs this year.
You and me might not be here in 26 or 27.

There comes a time in every leader’s professional career that they must make some very tough choices.
Do I fire someone in the organization that I (and my family) have a strong personal relationship with?
CJH has a couple of those. What will he do?

I question the growth of Nico. Lagway is doing well at UF and he's a true freshman I think. Why is Nico struggling to grasp things? Is it him or is it his coaching that's slowing his growth? Is our OL still affecting his performance in the pocket? Are our WRs so pedestrian that we're forced to limit our playbook? Who did the evals? Certainly Heupel signs off on every recruit we offer and sign so maybe we're just missing the mark in recruiting?

Good points. Your analogy with Lagway is very interesting. He hasn't had the luxury of sitting the bench last season to learn the system and is doing pretty good. I believe the O has been dumbed down this season for whatever reasons.

He should do what is right for the future of his family.

I think it's arguable that CJH whiffed on Joe Milton III, not that Joe is bad but not a great fit for Heupel's offense, and Nico, perhaps similar to Joe..... remains to be seen.

If Merk and McIntyre "have trouble seeing the field as well as Hooker did" also, you have to start to scratch your head and wonder if CJH is picking the right QBs for his offense.

The offense is supposedly simple reads and execution, granted at a fast pace..... but Heupel has slowed it down a lot in the last 2 years. I'm having a hard time thinking Joe wasn't ready, Nico is not quite there yet, Gaston Moore lacks the talent to execute a simple offense....... and I'll be really questioning if Merk "can't get it but he's really young" and then McIntyre "hasn't really played enough to have it down yet."

Heupel isn't in danger of losing his job but he may be in danger of peaking in what he can accomplish.

Should we wait and see what Heup can do with all the scholarships that will make us equal to other schools.I know we couldn’t have visitors for Miiss State thanks to Cornbread Pruitt

How is what Heupel has done with this program "medium success"?
Did not say Heupel was having medium success...only stated that in today's age if you aren't winning, or competing strongly for, championships then you likely aren't going to be given more than 4 to 5 years max.

Trust me, I believe CJH is doing a stellar job and has UT knocking on the door of greatness again. My point was if he had turned a 9-3 season in 2022 and say a 9-3 or 8-4 this year, how much more time would the fans give him?

Keep in mind, even with those seasons it places him as doing a better job than the previous 4 coaches.

I do agree with the latter. No reason that talent wise this group is less than the 21-22 group.
Name 1 team in college football right now that have 2 soon to be NFL receivers? Plenty have a receiver who will be drafted but none will have 2.
Our receivers right now may not even get drafted much less contribute

That will be telling. If Nico isn't markedly improved next year, I'll be wanting to see either Merk or McIntyre get a shot.

Merk was a very high 4*, top 10 qb recruit in his class. We had to fight GA to land him. If he weren't sandwiched between Nico and McIntye, half this board would have already anointed him.

Jesus dude! Golesh never had a redshirt freshman QB. The offense is working the same, the players are not the same. Nico simply doesn't see the field like Hendon did.

Goleah also had Tillman and Hyatt to throw the ball to, we don't have anyone with that kind of skill.

After the last 20 years, you have the balls to sit behind a keyboard and bitch that we are "only" gonna win 10 ga.es this year.......SMH
There is no bi*****, only facts being stated. You need to lighten your lens. It if your world is that dark, so be it.

How about we divide VolNation into 2 divisions? One where all the negative fans go and the other for the rest of us?!?!
I wonder if one can really identify who the negative fans are. Since the Georgia game, there is a group who blames the players and coaches. The other group blames the officials and playoffs committee.

How many are the few who believe we’re doing well to be 8-2 and still have a shot? Maybe 8-2 was to be expected and even though we had a chance to be 10-0, very few were expecting us to be better at a preseason rank of 15. You’d have to be able to take a step back from the disappointment of losing last Saturday to see that we’re doing about as well as most people expected.

Some of us are disappointed in 8-2 because Georgia isn’t anywhere close to being as good as expected. Arkansas hasn’t lived up to the performance that they showed against Tennessee either. But, we beat Oklahoma and Alabama soundly. Florida is actually a team that no one wants to play right now.

We see holes in the defense and inconsistency with the offense. Every team in the top 15 has had similar issues. The one thing that could turn everyone’s attitude around is a solid 4 quarters of play from our offense, against Vanderbilt. We want to believe that we’re capable of winning in the playoffs, but the offense hasn’t been dominant in any of our SEC games.

Ole Miss has 3. Bru was projected as a 4th-5th round pick to start the season. That hasn’t changed. If not one among Squirrel/ CB or Thornton gets drafted I’ll come back and say “Golfprovol” was right.

You've got the patience of Job to respond to these people. Just let them be, their brain is broken.

For a few years we were, obviously 98 was the culmination of that. Typically, though the SEC runs through Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama, if you’re not meeting those teams, you’re probably not getting to the SEC championship or now the playoff.
But in those years could struggled to beat UF. So how were we elite? Right now we struggle to beat UGA so that means we can't be elite?

We finished in the top 5 twice during Phillip's 90s teams
