I ask because I see some people that advocate for flat/fair taxes say it should be the revenue that is taxed. A business can make 10mil in a year and still not make anything.
Take the total govt expenditures for the previous 3 years, average it then figure out the total consumption average for that time period and set the consumption tav at that rate. Bet we would see a balanced budget pretty quick.

But as it is it is much better now. People get a discount for having kids that actually use more government services... Yeah, that's fair. <--- blue font

Child tax credit. You should see some of the signs outside of the tax offices in the barrio. I kid you not..."Got Kids? Get Cash!"

I'll have you know at this very moment I am on hold for 20 minutes of an estimated 60 min wait to speak with a customer service rep at the IRS.
I have been on hold 1 hour 26 minutes. This is not a joke.

A better way would be to simply close all the loopholes that the very rich use to get away with paying minimal taxes--and to tax the super-rich and corporations (which also rarely pay taxes) more heavily. Republicans don't think rich people should be taxed---which is another indication of how stupid and crazy Republicans are.

Your argument is not logical. Are you saying that the "poor" are paying more? It's not possible because "poor" by definition infers can't pay.

And the democrats has all 3 branches of government in 2009 for 2 years with a filibuster proof Senate. This means they could have imposed all the ridiculous tax increases you are advocating for. They could have confiscated enough money to pay off our national debt. But they did not. Why do you think that is?

But I will agree with you that any corporation who has a head of diversity equity and inclusion and an ESG rating should be taxed at 85%. And even though they make the 87 car line at the drive thru last only 27 seconds, this would also include Chick-fil-A.
