Are You still Gonzo for Counzo ?

All he has to do is paint his chest at a Lady Vols game and 90% of UT basketball fans will love him.

No, all he has to do is coach the team. If he would start
coaching maybe we would pull some of these games out.
Early on the remnants of Pearl's coaching remained and we played both Duke and Memphis close, but, I guess he
coached the winning attitude out of them.

Where are all the people that were so pumped about our moral victories? I guess we lost to Austin Peay because we didn't have enough talent. Everyone knew it was going to be a long year but I expected the team to play as hard as they could for 40 minutes and at least play good defense but I guess not.

The slurpers are having a quilting party to sew up our "
MORAL VICTORY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP" pennant.:)

I would hate to see how the majority of you all run your lives with the fickle, knee-jerk, and whiney baby reactions. Hopefully you're not in any position of actual responsibility or power if this is how you react for something as simple as a sporting event.

Your a good one to talk after you and lv torched a poster named willie for saying this would happen.

I have liked what I have seen from Cuonzo and his team until today. However, the more games I watch, the more I am concerned that he talks a good game ( "we'll play hard defense", "run a motion offense") I have not seen enough players (Golden, Tatum, especially) benched for not playing defense. At the same time, where is the "motion" offense?? Looks more like street ball to me.

Really? From what I saw after the Duke loss all the UT fans loved him and said he was good...

If anyone was sane they would realize that Duke had a lot more to do with the 10 point difference than we did. Go back and watch from the 14 minute mark to the 7 minute mark and tell me what Austin Rivers did: Shoot Duke outta the lead and let us creep back in because of Rivers' mistakes. That game being close was all Duke's doing. O well, Basketball is gonna be in the tank for a while to come and its all because we botched the hire.

I'm not bashing Martin at all but can someone answer me this: Didn't Mike Hamilton say he was gonna take two to three weeks to make a hire and what has Martin done in his career besides being in the Gene Keady tree?

No, that would require getting the living hell beat out of us (Michigan). Was Pearl a motivator? Yes, no doubt, and a good one at that. Was it his coaching that stood out on the court? Far from it.

Yes, he is going to be just fine. One bad day at the office. AP played well

Still the best cheer in basketball....."Let's go Peay! Let's go Peay!"

So in order to be a good coach, you have to yell at the refs and players all of the time?

I havent seen him coach at all.If you call sending players in and out coaching then so be it.He does nothing but sit there.I did like the inbounds play he called with the shot clock at 6.he drew that up during the timeout.

So you follow them in the locker room? Check out practices? Hear every word that he says in games?

Or do you only see what the tv networks show during games?

Just because he isn't as loud and brazen as Pearl does not mean that coaching doesn't occur.

Just because he doesn't yell at the top of his lungs doesn't mean he isn't coaching. I was there... 50 ft from him, and I heard him directing the guys the whole game. A lot of it is just pitiful execution. Granted, he does deserve some of the blame, but to say he isn't coaching is just ridiculous.

You like being on his staff?

Way to early to decide whether Cuonzo can coach.
Very embaressing loss, regardless though.
He's got an entire season to redeem himself, if they get hot at the end of the season, this loss will be completely forgotten.

Got to give him time fellas. PG's make or break coaches and trae is killing him. Washpun isn't ready yet, but deserves more time.

Trying to compare this loss to any loss Pearl had is stupid. No, Pearl never had any loss this bad to this bad of a team, but he didn't inherit a mess either. Martin gets at least 2 years, but he did himself no favors with the fans in the short term. TBA will be a mausoleum again if he keeps losing to sh*tball teams like this.

What do you think TBA was today? There were about 6,000 people at the game.
