I have a very strong feeling that if we ever get a real good candidate for president that you'll hate them worse than Trump. Maybe you're the on that should calibrate your feelings as to what a good candidate is.

To many people any outsider is unqualified to be president simply by definition. For some strange twist of logic, being able to make decisions at the top of the political heap can only be accomplished by a politician. Intelligent and accomplished people from any other walk of life need not apply. And you fell for it? Congress controls the money, and candidates always talk about things they can't do. Trump also said he'd build a wall, and congress said not without the money we won't give you. Why do we need immigration reform? Maybe we should try enforcing what we have for a change. Last time reform came up Reagan went along, allowed amnesty, and congress didn't fix anything ... didn't even attempt to. How about we address the labor issue by not paying people to sit on their asses.

Many of the ones filled by immigrants are agricultural and/or seasonal. I also watched many construction laborers in the housing boom when labor was tight. There is absolutely a need for additional unskilled labor on this country. Allowing a temp workforce to do the work is beneficial and really would keep prices down

Maybe it would help if politicians - particularly the ones with a D attached quit pushing college for everyone and recognized that the economist's fantasy of no American getting his hands dirty is just a fantasy. JOB skills. Robots and offshore workers don't support our economy and unemployed workers displaced by them aren't consumers. It doesn't take much intelligence to figure out the educational and economic needs. Perhaps there are short term needs, but employers abused the system for cheap non US labor - not to fill temporary shortages.

I don't believe the debt can necessarily be paid off but we need to stop mindlessly increasing it. Trump was a moron for suggesting it.

Trump was perhaps the lesser of 2 evils but if that's your qualifier then he should never have been nominated. You wanted someone to beat Hilary and that cost you Biden 4yrs later

Pep rallies are often unrealistic, too; but they like political rallies exist for a reason. Now if you want to hold candidates to their promises, then you are looking at making them dictators because the rest of the government isn't going to comply.

AT&T recently put fiber cable in my neighborhood and they did it with what I am sure was 100% illegals. These guys were workers and spent 12 hours digging with picks and shovels in sweltering heat. I was told by someone that deals with the company doing the work that they pay $300 a day and they have to work until the job is done. I'm guessing for $25/hour these workers were ecstatic. We need more people in this country that are willing to work, but we've become fat, dumb and lazy.

A network of benefits to fall back on makes that possible. Hunger is a great motivator.
