Im not disputing that, my main point was Gruden is not considering Ark and its really funny after hearing he would only consider 2 Universities that they think he will be roaming the sidelines there next year. Not saying UT is getting him but he will be coaching TN before he coach's in Fayetteville. Like I said any SEC school could technically afford him thanks to Boosters but very few would actually do it based on the money they could generate by spending close to 10 mill for a Coach and his assistants. I barely could see UT spending that much I definitely couldnt see a University like Ark doing it. I honestly dont know what each school generates just based on ticket sales and merchandising but would imagine we bring in a whole lot more than Ark just based on stadium size and fan base alone.

For 2010
"The only winning that impacts you is winning huge, like national championship huge," Fuller said. Licensing from last year across the entire UT brand was $3.15 million, about 40 percent of which goes to the athletic department. Last year, from jersey sales in every sport totaled $68,000. "It's nickels and dimes," Fuller said."

Keep in mind UT's athletic dept give more back to the university system than almost any other university. So much so that the AD is running a deficit.

Look, I'm a realist. It may be just a dream getting Gruden to UT, but it is at least plausible. All of his TN ties and his comments about only taking ND and UT jobs in college at least support the rumors.

On the other hand, Arky fans even remotely believing that he might go there is down right laughable. I actually feel sorry for them that they are that delusional. There is zero chance whatsoever that he would even consider going there.

They would never pay the close to 10 mill a yr for him and his assistants. They would never generate the revenue UT would to even justify doing that. So no they wouldnt/couldnt.

They're paying $3mil+ for Anderson, they made Petrino one of the 5-6 highest paid coaches in the country. You're an idiot if you don't think they can generate the revenue off boosters alone. Then tack in revenue generated from other sports. They average 9k for baseball games for goodness sakes. I'd go on a limb and say their baseball program probably turns a profit. Their fans support that program like none other in the country, attendance wise.

I don't think they get him, but you will not convince me other wise that they can't pay that kind of money. You say we can generate it but they cant, yet we've never gone above $2mil for any coach, in any sport, at any time.

Fan base alone is where you're messing up. They're the only show in town in the whole state! Vandy and Memphis aren't powerhouses but they do command fandom and monetary contributions, then throw in the SEC melting pots that are Nashville and Memphis and UT has a lot of competition for a fan base. Arkansas doesn't have that problem.

I also guarantee you they will not be paying a Coach 6 million a year muchless Gruden. He would never take that job as has been mentioned on numerous outlets. It would be UT or ND in college and thats it. I probably should have reworded what I said. Any of the 14 SEC schools could /would have the money to pay 10+ mill for a coach and assistants but very few have 100k+ plus side stadiums, sell the amount of merchandise they do and get the tv ratings to generate the money from football to justify paying that kind of money. We went cheap with Dooley and has cost us the 3 worst yrs in Vol football I can ever remember. I guarantee you we would win a bidding war this yr if it came down to it. Arkansas doesnt have anything that could match would UT could offer from facilities (including stadium size),fan base, tv ratings, merchandising etc. Especially when the fans are behind the coach, which we would be with Gruden or other big name hires. Im not positive what Razorback stadium holds but cant imagine it being more than 75 or so. Petrino gave Arky a cpl good yrs and even at their best they couldnt beat Saban, Miles or Chizzik's one good yr to win the West. Honestly not sure what big name coach would take that job, especially having to battle Saban, Miles, Sumlin and depending on who Au gets could easily be 3rd-5th every year. Gruden definitely wouldnt, doubtful Patterson would nor do I see Gundy taking it. Peterson sure the hell wouldnt either. No idea who is even on their list after them. But i guarantee you we land the better coach this yr.

arky can do whatever they want. They can generate just as much revenue as we can. Dont be stupid, your making me look dumb as a fellow vol fan.

Some of these hillbilies make the rest of us sound stupid.

Arkansas can pay on par with nearly any program if they choose to do so. Whether they have the will remains to be seen, but they certainly have the means.

This is what caught my eye ...
Volunteers football games generated over $8 million in local spending on days of home games, and the Athletic Department contributed $6 million to the University last year.

Where are they going to get the kind of money Gruden requires?!

Well, Jerry Jones happens to be an alum.

He's not going to Arkansas, though.

Is it possible that Arkansas has offered Gruden a contract? Sure. Is it possible that their boosters are lobbying to hire Gruden? Sure. Is it possible that Jeff Long has had conversations with Gruden? Sure.

However, Arkansas isn't going to outbid us for Gruden's services. If they do, there is no way that we don't at least match their offer.

As far as facilities, we have top 3 facilities nationally. Arkansas is in the middle of renovations, but there are not on our level yet.

What ties does Gruden have to Arkansas? We all know his ties to Tennessee, so what could Arkansas possibly offer that would outweigh his ties to us? I ultimately think that is what it comes down to.

Pretty solid out of Arky they have signed someone. No idea who it is. They are saying whoever it is will be making 6M
and will be announced a week from Monday.

I guess their announcement will tell us the first of who we can mark off as potential coach.

How is it solid? If they're paying someone 6 million, it's probaby Gruden, but I can't see him wanting to coach there.
