Literally no one outside of Arky message boards thinks this has a chance.

that what has a chance?

if your referencing my post, I never suggested It was Gruden.

i believe it to be plausible that they already have their guy.

per CBS Sports either Ark or Ky contacted Tony Dungy about their vacancy.

Thought Walmart was a China based company? :ermm:

May as well be but it's not. There are at least a couple of Walton's that love the pigs and few people in America can match their resources. They also don't mind donating it to the University. Pretty much an open check book.

Well, Jerry Jones happens to be an alum.

He's not going to Arkansas, though.

Is it possible that Arkansas has offered Gruden a contract? Sure. Is it possible that their boosters are lobbying to hire Gruden? Sure. Is it possible that Jeff Long has had conversations with Gruden? Sure.

However, Arkansas isn't going to outbid us for Gruden's services. If they do, there is no way that we don't at least match their offer.

As far as facilities, we have top 3 facilities nationally. Arkansas is in the middle of renovations, but there are not on our level yet.

What ties does Gruden have to Arkansas? We all know his ties to Tennessee, so what could Arkansas possibly offer that would outweigh his ties to us? I ultimately think that is what it comes down to.

Look I'm just reading the board but sometimes folks just don't know much and it takes away from the overall discussion.

How do you know Arkansas wouldn't outbid you? Arkansas is more than Walmart, though the one Walton with the most interest in athletics is the one that owns Arvest Bank. A Tyson sets on the Board or Trustees. He's the one that writes checks for Indoor Track Facilities and such just cause. There's the Stevens family, and a whole host of others that dole out large sums of money.

Arkansas is more financially sound than Tennessee at the moment. We certainly are not running in the red. It's 30 plus million Football Operations Center will be done in the coming summer. It didn't need weight rooms and an indoor practice facility because Arkansas already had top of the line ones. Oh, that was all paid for by donations and not a drop of Walton money, but by folks like a former CEO of JB Hunt and other boosters.

Yes, Jerry is very good to Arkansas but it's not just him.

Most all Walton Money goes to the academic side, they pretty much donated 400 million of the Billion Dollar endowment fund. They do not give much at all to the athletic side since Bud paid for half of Bud Walton arena 20 years ago.

You are dreaming pigman. Arkansas has never won a thing in the SEC. Arkansas has the same number of SEC championships as Vanderbilt, USC, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State, zero. The facilities at UT cannot be compared to Arkansas'.

Nobody with a media credential thinks Gruden will even consider Arkansas beyond a flirtation that gets him a raise elsewhere.

Arkansas is prepared to throw as much money at him as they need to get him and make no mistake, they can offer just as much money as we can.

I agree he's not going. However, the people acting like Arkansas is just posturing and can't spend the money that UT can are just flat wrong. That school is rich as hell.

If money were the only factor, every team would throw 10 million at NicK Saban and Bill Belichick but they don't.

And that is fine. They would have to throw a lot more money than us to Gruden to make it happen...like several million a year more.

The point is moot, however.

I was just using JJ as an example to the poster I quoted. If we are going to offer around $6 mil, which had been rumored, what will Arkansas offer to sway his decision? If the money is close, you lose.

He doesent want to be the hogs head coach. He said in April that for him to take a coaching job somewhere that it had to be good for his family. His family don't want to be in Arkansas.
