Arrow

I thought it was great. Disappointed in weezy's disappointment.

My main disappointment is Thea. I'd much rather her be a dark character than "she was being mind-controlled by a plant." That just seemed weak to me, like a cop out.

I'm ok with it. It's bad enough that every actor on this show ends up being a vigilante as it is. I'm surprised Roy Palmer isn't a vigilante, oh wait.

I bet you could even join the show and you'd wind up being the serial, bare chested, baby oil hugger. :)

I'll do it, but only if you're my sidekick.

Here's my problem with Ollie fighting Ra's al Gul. He's not Bruce Wayne/Batman. Ra's al Ghul is as badass as they come. He's a master at killing. Ollie has no shot against Ras. If they write the story to suggest otherwise, I'll be disappointed that they would downgrade such an epic character. The only mortal character in DC that approaches Ras is Batman. And the fact that they cannot use the Batman/Ras tie-in is really disheartening. It kinda feels like they're trying to turn Ollie into a surrogate for Bruce, which just doesn't work for me. What's next? Will the mysterious figure standing over his (presumed dead) body be Talia? Are he and Talia going to have a fling? Those are the types of things that make me worry about where this story could be headed. I want the story of Green Arrow, not Batman. If you want to tell the story of Batman, then create another show(besides Gotham) to detail his adventures. I've enjoyed the League of Assassins tie-in, but I wish they would have limited it to not include Ras. Ra's al Ghul is a bad ass character, and I think they've demonstrated that, I just think they've done so in a story featuring the wrong nemesis. Ollie is not Bruce Wayne.

Just a rant, but that's jmo.

But now he's motivated to chase after Ra's al Ghul. We all know he's not really dead. That's a given. So storyline kind of dictates he pursue Ras once he's recovered. The thing is, Ras could kill him a hundred times over. Ollie is not, nor will he ever be, a match for Ras. That's why I'm not a fan of introducing the character into Arrow. For Ollie to win, they'd have to go totally against the characters. Part of what makes this show for me is, despite taking some liberties, they've attempted to stay somewhat true to the characters. Am I glad Ollie got whipped by Ras? Yes and no. Yes, because based on the characters, Ras would beat Ollie every time. No, because I like Ollie, and though a good ass beating once in awhile will keep the character humble, wht Ra's al Ghul did was more than a simple ass beating.

Hard for me to really explain, 95, because this story kind of goes against my inner comic geekdom. But I'm willing to be patient and see where it goes. Being disappointed in one episode isn't going to turn me off from the show. I just hope the writers reach a conclusion to the story that stays true to both characters.

I guess my point was he clearly was not a match for Ras. They stayed true to that. Just wait and see on the rest. Maybe things will flip around where they are forced to work together via the Asian guy he knows (name escapes me).

After watching it I felt like the fight was way too short, and Oliver picked the worst set of weapons. Something about the character or maybe the actor playing Ras isn't very convincing to me.

What?!

Oliver gets stabbed completely through with a 3" wide sword, falls off a cliff, and freezes to death and still doesn't need a Lazarus pit to come back to life. OMGWTFBBQ! LOL!

The Suicide Squad Returns This Season on Arrow!

The Suicide Squad Returns This Season on Arrow!

Returning from its midseason break last week, The CW’s hit DC Comics series “Arrow” continues tonight with the eleventh episode of season three, “Midnight City.” While yesterday’s clip offers a pretty good indication of some major plot developments happening tonight, ET is already looking to the future, revealing that the upcoming eighteenth episode will feature the return of Task Force X, aka the Suicide Squad!

Titled “Suicidal Tendencies,” “Arrow” episode 3×18 will feature a new lineup of antiheroes. Cynthia Addai-Robinson will reprise her role as Amanda Waller with Michael Rowe confirmed to return as Deadshot. Amy Gumenick will also be returning as Cupid, enlisting in the Squad for the first time.
The episode is also slated to feature the return of Charlotte Ross as Donna Smoak (Felicity’s mom, who previously appeared in 3×05, “The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak”) and the debut of “Grey’s Anatomy” star Steven Culp as a corrupt politician, Senator Cray.

The Suicide Squad is, meanwhile, preparing to hit the big screen in a very different configuration. David Ayer is set to helm the Warner Bros. feature film, already set to star Will Smith, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne. Look for the movie version to hit the big screen August 5, 2016.

Tonight’s “Arrow,” meanwhile, is directed by Nick Copus and written by Wendy Mericle & Ben Sokolowsk. “Midnight City” follows Arsenal and Diggle as they confront Laurel about trying to step into her sister’s shoes and warn her to stop before she gets herself killed. However, when Brick (guest star Vinnie Jones) kidnaps the city’s Aldermen and threatens to kill them all unless the police evacuate The Glades, it’s all suits on deck. Meanwhile, Ray steps in to help Lance and the police force fight Brick, showing Felicity a new side of her boss. Malcolm tells Thea that Ra’s al Ghul is after him and his family and they must leave town immediately.

Wonder what the plans for Katana are? Will she join Team Arrow? Maybe she could stick around long enough to train Laurel. One of the big things about Canary in comics is she had many teachers, so she learned to fight multiple ways. It's part of what makes her a force of her own to be reckoned with. In comics, in a one on one fight, she'd beat the crap out of Ollie. (At least back in the time period when I read comics.)

I'd still love to see Nyssa return to Starling and help train Laurel. I think you could get a good story about them bonding over Sara. Also, Nyssa could be the key to establishing a peace between Ollie and Ras.

One villain I'd like to see show up is Cheshire. She's more tied to Roy than she is to Ollie, but you could do a strong Roy/Cheshire story if you mined their comic book history. Then again, maybe the writers plan on having Thea eventually morph into a Cheshire type character. That would be interesting. Especially if they brought Lian into the picture at some point.

Random thought relating to Laurel: They've effectively made Laurel's dad a completely useless character.

She's awkwardly tall and pretty much completely untrained. She almost died like 3 times in that one episode.

Which is kinda the point. Right now, she's barely trained. She's not ready to be the Canary, but she won't back down. That's completely in character.

My worry is that Katie Cassidy doesn't have the physical ability to pull off being a fully trained Black Canary. In the comics, Canary trained intensively under several teachers. Ted Grant was one, but there were several more.

They've relegated him to the background as others, such as Thea and Malcolm, get more screen time. Eventually he'll come back in to play when he learns Sara is dead.

That depends on whether or not anyone tells him about Sara, whether or not it kills him, and then ultimately if he does survive how does he see action with his heart condition?

Not a great casting job given the physical requirements, but maybe she'll adjust. Storyline always called for this to happen though.

I'm not familiar with the Green Arrow storyline. Didn't read it.

I'm struggling to get my head around....train with a boxer a couple of episodes so I'm qualified to be a pole wielding vigilante. And everyone is ok with that.
